Default Bodywork question

I discovered today that my damn dog has been chewing on the rear bumper cover of my NISMO and has drilled several holes in it and ripped a hole in it. This, obviously, is unacceptable and I plan to get it fixed. Here are my questions. Please don't flame me, I'm pretty put out and am looking for some answers.
1). Does anyone have any idea how much the bumper cover costs?
2). Is the color molded in or do they paint them?
3). If I replace this with an OEM cover is it no harm no foul or does it still adversely affect the car's value like a wreck?

I'm really dreading having color match issues.

an old roommates pit bull loved his kong toy.. so much so that when it got stuck under the front edge of the OTHER roommates couch, we came home to find a pitbull head sized /mouse hole shaped are of the front of the couch fully removed by his mouth.. were talking the size of a basketball.. the front part.. not the seating foam.. the wood and other frame material haha..

those dogs are insane.. i imagine its a similar breed?

In regard to your last question, I don't think if you replaced the cover it will affect the car's resale value. Just make sure the colors match up.

You can price the bumper here: http://www.courtesyparts.com/. Figure cost plus 20 percent markup. Painting and installation is about $400.

Default Thanks for the replies

I was pretty pissed and mostly needed to get it out there to vent.

The dog is a 85lb German Shepherd. Goofy is hell but mostly a good dog.
I'll take a few pics of the damage and post tomorrow.

I knew you guys could appreciate how upsetting something like that would be. I have kept this car perfect over the last 3 1/2 years. Always parking strategically, keeping it in the garage, etc. Only to be foiled by the damn dog. I don't even park under tree limbs! This one caught me by surprise.

I know what you mean, i just graduated college and no matter where I parked my car I would always find a new ding or dent. Now once I find a job i can look for to coworkers like this https://my350z.com/forum/2003-2009-n...idding-me.html

Fix and paint will be about the same as a new bumper and paint. A shop like Bumper Medic will probably be the cheapest and specialize is small repairs.

If you buy a new bumper, let me know, interested in the damaged one.

With that color you'll more than likely have blend issues against the quarters, hatch, if you paint the bumper by itself. I would honestly repair the damaged are blend the color out on the bumper then just clear the whole bumper. Better chance of it still matching with just clear on the edges. Unless you spray some cheap clear that has a yellowish tint to it. Although, if you don't do the repair right you'd be wasting your time and money.

it's hard to find a used replacement in perfect condition. you'll most likely need a brand new one from courtesy. and get your dog more chew toys.

You could probably find someone willing to do it for less money. If that shop does great work that lasts though, I'm not surprised by the price for everything.
