Default Zex Nitrous Kit and UTEC

I just bought a Zex kit and UTEC, looking for a really good shop in the NJ area to do the install. I'm willing to travel a bit but no more than say 1-2 hours. Quality labor without being ripped off... also need central 20 gears installed. Please advise...

Car versions 2 in De is the only shop willing to do it all but the price seems a bit hi... 600 for gears and 5-6 hrs at 85 an hour for the Zex kit. This is not including tuning of the UTEC or Zex system.... MRC won't do the gears because they require oem shims and some special tools???

the nitrous can be installed in 3 to 4 hours by anyone, and thats overestimating the time, the utec seriously takes about 10 minutes to install, tuning the utec is the major thing. i believe people are getting right over $500 for a tune, this also doesnt mean they know what they are doing. i would take a drive down to somewhere that has utec tuning experience and make sure you are getting what you pay for.

the gears i havent had any experience with so i am not sure about the costs. i would talk to a person that works at a nissan dealership and see what he says. good luck!!

Well the nos is the bottle, remote opener, heater, switches... purge... I guess those add ons bump the price and labor up a little bit.

Some guys are like 3-4 hrs others are 5-6, prices range... I need names and phone numbers of reputable shops in and around nj. I am willing to drive for quality...

The utec I can install myself... but it's the tuning I need help with... I'm surprised they won't make a map based on each persons mods... when I did this for a motorcycle they had maps for everything...

The gears are bumming me out, evo and central 20 both require shims and some special backlash tools... isn't there anyone in Nj that's had this done? If so where and the cost please... thanks!!!

seriously for the gears, try the nissan dealership, i could install all of the nitrous parts that you mentioned in 3-4 hours

try calling some shops that specialize in american cars, sometimes they love to work on nicer imports...

I agree with mayhem, install the NOS and the utec yourself. Get the gears done at a dealership. Tuning the utec, im a bit different about. I feel that you can learn to do it yourself if your willing to be patient (ie read months). In that time you can learn to get the perfect tune for what you want. The only thing your really paying for with getting the utec tuned is someone that has dealt with it enough to tune it right the first time.

Its not hard, take your time, take small steps and you can save money there also. Of course this is coming from a guy that can afford a new engine if I screw up, but im taking very small steps af first to learn all about the utec before tuning the engine damaging options.

Nowell do you have the TXS WB to go along with your UTEC? If not I HIGHLY suggest you get it for datalogging/tuning purposes. I hope your not gonna try the hit it, look at wideband and try to tune technique....

yea, im going with the wideband from TurboXS. Im supposed to go up there this week to pic it up if work ever cooperates. 18 hours last night, so I went out to get drunk and come in late today. F-em.

Where did you end up mounting you wideband? I was thinking about saying screw it, and mounting it under the passanger seat if the cable is long enough.

Ive just seen the pics on the turboXS site. The way I understand it though, you could put it somehwere and dont even need the display if you do all your datalogging through the laptop?

Boy did you guys hijack my thread... lol.... thanks for the info... Like I said I can install but I'd rather take the nos stuff and utec to a shop for tuning... gears no nissan dealer by me knows how to them and the ones that do won't install parts... they all suck around these parts... does anyone know someone decent to go to or not....?

Damn man, if you lived closer I would install it for you free of charge for some beer. The Zex kit is so simple. The Utec isn't that bad. You can even use the extra selinoid connector to spary your nos in an rpm range. I would say just go for it, then take it for a tune after you have it all in.

Thats correct you dont need it for datalogging. But at the time of doing an actual run the display sure would help....
