Question Nos performance gains????

Has anyone run some quarter miles or had their ride dynoed with any nos setup? Could you post some times or results? I tried searching but couldn't find anything. Thanks for the info!

Hey Mike,

You just hit on a pet peeve of mine. From your post I think what you are asking about is Nitrous Oxide not specifically NOS. NOS is a name brand which stands for Nitrous Oxide Systems. For example, its kinda like calling inline skates "Rollerblades". Even though a lot of people call them Rollerblades, those "in the know" call them inline skates.

I guess what I’m saying; you should refer to Nitrous Oxide injection as just Nitrous.

I really am not trying to be a jerk or anything; I’m just doing my part to educate to masses! I hope I was helpful.

And BTW, I think there is only a handful of people on this board that have Nitrous setups and I don’t recall any of them posting any dyno numbers.

Does anyone have any ideas on what the internals can handle? Are they putting 200 shots on or just little 50 -100 shots? I wonder if the car could handle a 150 shot used all the time??? That would surprise a few vettes!! As long as they are stock!

Maybe he only wanted to know about the actual NOS brand setups?

Just about everybody I know has used nitrous and nos interchangably since like 10 years or more ago. Kinda like you're at a freind's house and they ask you want to drink, do you say I'd like a cola please,...probably not. You prolly say coke or pepsi even if you don't know which they have in the fridge. Seems like people have been a little sensitive about that ever since the fast and the furious used the naws pronunciation. Oh well not a big deal anyway different strokes, ya know.

Yeah, that seems to be my hang up, those who learned everything they know about cars from the fast and the furious and don’t know any better. I guess NOS and Nitrous can be used interchangeably, but If you really want to sound like you know what you talking about you should call it Nitrous.

Everyone made good points, I just can’t break free of my way of thinking......... ITS NITROUS, or "on the bottle", or "spraying"..... Just try and not use NOS as a blanket term to describe the other very reputable Nitrous injection systems. It hurts their feelings.....

I don't care if people say they want to run N.O.S. even if they don't mean a Holley kit. What I can't stand is the word nahz being used! That I have no patience for.

BTW - I'm running an N.O.S. kit with an 80 shot. I have taken some of the intake apart to inspect for fuel puddling or any signs of detonation or scoring and all looks perfect. I may increase it to 100.

Can anyone else let me know what they are running? I wonder what the max is, or do you think that a 75-80 is a good conservative way to go? Do you use it A LOT or just at the drag strip? I plan on having it on whenever I am not going to and from work. WHen I am out cruising, I tend to step on the loud pedal alot!!

Default Zex Kit

I will have time slips both N/A and N20 with 75HP Jets and a purge before launch.

I also have a grounding kit and Injen Intake and completly redone 2.5 exhaust from the cats back.

I want the UR Pullies they are a good mod, but can't find them.

AnywayZ,

I *will* have time slips on 4-2-03 with a 75 shot, should be nice weather then too. I have squeezed 2 bottles w/o any problems with 65HP jets. My bottle is on E right now. no pressure.

I wouldn't suggest using those 200HP Jets. That's pushing it on stock internals even for an LS1!

Keep us posted MaxHax.. I think I will be going to the same setup as you... Hopefully with 75shots you can break into 12's

Throbber: I think most ppl are stuck with the word NOS, I usually say NOS even thought I may not refert to NOS brand.. It's just one of those things that you are stuck with, you know??

Another Z owner ran a 13.6 without squeezing. Getting into the 12's shouldnt be a problem. I ran a cobra a couple weeks ago and smoked him by car or two. I sprayed on him with a 50 shot. I was actually surprised I left him like I did. I know the Cobras are pretty quick. Maybe the driver?

Apexi350z thanks for the vote of confidence, a poster on here claimed to have the UR Pully's, I called him on it but no response yet because their website still says TBA.

thread here

They are on my mod wish list.

Another thread mentioned using a 200 shot lol.

I'm also looking into BFG 275/40/18 DR's, they make em. Money is becoming an issue though.

With DR's I should be in the 12's. "Should."

I'll give it my best!

Wow, both the words 'LS1' and 'Cobra' were used in this thread and the domestic guys haven't jumped in yet. Usually its within minutes... are the search engines not working?

Lets try this....
LS1 LT1 WS6 Mustang Cobra F-Body Chevy Camaro

That should catch a few!!

What kind of times would I get if I ran NOS on my Rollerblades? Do you think I would need Kleenex to wipe the tears from my eyes? Or maybe Q-Tips to relieve the pressure from my ears? I could always Xerox my time slips and try to get feedback from others. Anyone know if they let you listen to Walkmans while you run for time, or do the headphones not fit in a helmet.

(This would have been cooler if LiquidZee hadn't beaten me to the punch)
