If I were you, I'd keep the "minimum" rpm to 3500 (for safety). Also, the higher the AFR, the leaner you are. Lean condition is bad for nitrous. Being rich isn't as bad but you risk pooling of nitrous/fuel mixture. So, you shouldn't go leaner than 12.5 is what you mean. Personally, I'd shoot for 11s.

Bumping an old thread with my information:

Nitrous&Fuel / Octane / Timing / Dyno #s / AFR / E.T.&Trap

48N 32F / 93 / -2º / 304.6 whp & ??? tq / ~11.3 / 12.520@110.17 mph
(lost bottle psi toward the end)
54N 42F / 93 / -2º / 315.3 whp & ??? tq / ~11.8 / TBA

This was done on a dynojet, but the dyno couldn't read my torque numbers for some reason. It said my max tq was 211.

I have an 08 Z, so I'm running two nozzles... The jet sizes that are currently in are
38/22 on each nozzle. So it'd be 76/44 (Dynotune 125 shot) However it's running rich, so I just ordered a pair of 20 fuel jets, I'll post up once I install them.

However right now it's: 76n 44f / 93 / -2 / TBA / 10.6-11.0 / TBA

Updating mine again.. I still don't have a tune (stock ECU with only 2 degrees pulled via somebody else's AccessPort).

Nitrous&Fuel / Octane / Timing / Dyno #s / AFR / E.T.&Trap

54N 42F / 100-105 / -2º / 284 whp & 367 wtq / ~11.8 / 12.288@109.67mph (as of Dec 20, 2009)

This was on a Mustang Dyno at Cobb. My first pull was N/A and my car put down 237 whp 232 wtq. 2nd pull, I made 284/367 with very low nitrous in the bottle on top of my tires slipping triggering the VDC!!! The damn noobie dyno operator left that on. 3rd pull was rendered useless thanks to the empty bottle. I'll redyno again properly in a few months.

My set up as-is should be good for 12.0 or even 11.9 down the 1320'. I just got a new clutch/flywheel so once I get a bit more seat time, I should be able to get a better ET.

Thank you, sir. Drag racing's been my hobby ever since I got my Z. Hopefully, I'll have some accurate dyno numbers with a full bottle and with the VDC off pretty soon to match up with my ET/trap.

I only had 1 trip out to the strip since my new clutch/flywheel went in but I can already tell you that lightweight flywheels make launching the Z noticeably harder (since we nitrous guys launch N/A and then juice gets sprayed, thus not enough power to overcome the bogging from the reduced flywheel weight). If you're planning on daily driving and drag racing only, then stick with the stock flywheel.

Yea i heard bad things and good things bout light weight flywheels.. ill prolly jus get the jwt clutch kit and keep my oem fly... should be good for a bit.. and btw, for a mustang dyno, ur #'s arent bad at all but ur right, should be a bit higher for the nitrous jet u got in there.. goodluck with it!

Sounds like you got it all planned out.

Yeah, my horsepower number is low because I was losing pressure before it could hit its peak. I got the torque surge, though.

Maybe its time for NANO , lol. I can't wait to see what your setup gets you!

That's for ballers only, like you. I'm no baller.

When can we expect to see some drag race times from you anyway?

On another forum I am on, someone is selling their brand new 4500 psi NANO kit with a zex 10lb bottle for $400.

I have to wait and see how much money I have this summer. I should learn how to drive first, like you said, learn to handle the current power, but I am just going to build instead, lol. I hope to be finished by summer and actually drive the car, lol.

Nitrous&Fuel / Octane / Timing / Dyno #s / AFR / E.T.&Trap

47-30/93/stockish/340whp 344tq/10.6/unknown

i gotta step down the fuel jet and timing down about 1.5-2 degrees...now that i have one step colder plugs and the massive vacuum leak fixed, she should be pushing some better numbers next time I throw it on the dyno

What is the scare with having your window switch set lower than 3000 rpms?
