Question found out my A/F ratio for nitrous

My buddy has a Innovate Wideband and we decided to see what my car was running and decided to tune it aswell. turns out the SAFC 2 wasn't letting us fiddle with the A/F ratio. so we just saw what ratio i was running normally. it turns out that on a 3rd gear pull from 3500k to 6000k my A/F ratio went from 12.2 at 4k and dropped to 11.2 around 5500k to 6k. so i was running a pretty rich on top end. Did some searching and it should be around 11.7. plz correct me if i'm wrong, but is it ok for now? I am running 100 shot jets on a Zex kit. test pipes, intake, cataback exhaust.

Have you taken it to the strip? times please? I'm running a 100 shot to and not sure that I'm getting everything out of this. I'm planning on taking mine out next week.

Thaks Tim

no i haven't taken it to the track yet. i wanna get the right A/F ratio first to get the most power out of nitrous and my breather mods. my jets are 46 for nitrous and 28 for fuel.

Don't quote me, but if I'm not mistaken Nissan purposely set the Z to run richer at higher RPM's. This was their way of making sure they de-tuned the car in order to control the top-speed/Hp. Rememer, richer mixtures can result in lower power due to slower burn speeds.

In regards to your nitrous question; having ran 125-150shot for the last 4 years on the same STOCK engine without any problems (knock on wood), running rich is not a concern. If you dyno your car you will find that once the nitrous is activated the rich problem will go away as your car will start to lean out as the nitrous makes its way through the car. It's running lean that should concern you.

Hope that helps

well yes running lean is very bad, but running real rich isnt to good for the motor either, but 11.2 isnt super low

Too rich (not sure how rich) will foul plugs, cats, and O2 sensors... Can cause knock too.

11.2 is okay for FI, but too rich for NA... Not sure about N02....
