Default Need help choosing a Nitrous System

I'm looking to add nitrous but can't decide on what system to go with. I'm stuck between ZEX or NX. I'll be adding the HKS FCON -PRO when I install my nitrous. I wan't to start with a 75 shot, then move to a 100. Any suggestions? The Zex kit I was looking at was part #82220, and the Nitrous Express is #20923.

They're both good so you won't go wrong with either. Why not go 100 right away? FCON-PRO right away too??? Wow must nice. Are you staying Noz only or are you going to go FI later on? Did you ever look at Dynotune Nitrous products? Good stuff for great prices. Keep us up to date with your nitrous journey. I'm curious about the HKS too................. maybe some day.

I'm going to start with NOS, then add FI later so I figured I might as well get the FCON V-PRO from the start, instead of buying something else now and changing it later. I hope its the right way to go. Keep you posted.

That FCon would be the best damn thing you could do as a base for all mods. Good choice. I run the UTEC + 125 Shot on a NX kit. I put down about 350whp, 422wtq. Nice little kick.

I can also vouch for Dynotune products and their customer service. Great guys that will help you with anything. The only product I have is the Switch Center and it's a sweet item.

What size shot are you running? And are you using a piggyback ECU?

I think oldschool was running a 150 shot with a UTEC.

Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Excellent!
I just got my UTEC the other day.
I'm having it professionally installed and tuned in a couple of weeks.
I not sure if I want to go 125 or 150 on my nitrous.
I've read 150 is the max that should be done on a stock motor, and 125 is playing it safe.

The shop is doing 3 maps for me; 100, 125, and 150.
Anyone have an opinion of going 150HP shot for the track on a 2006 motor?

DO NOT forget to change your maps for whatever you are running....if you do....kiss a piston, a ring land, or a rod goodbye (ask me how I know). I would do 100 on the street and 125-150 at the track.

Thanks for the advice. I will take it to heart.
I can already guess how you know.

I am getting it setup with the remote map switch.
I planned on 100 for street (if at all on street during summer months), and 125 for track.
I was just curious if 150 (track only) was feasible on a stock 2006 motor.

150 on the street with pump gas is not a good idea. I'm having 125 and 150 mapped using race fuel.
Plus you'll have traction issues with 150.
And if you're using any nitrous on the street, you better be damn sure you're in the middle of nowhere not risking anyone else's life but your own.

I have a 700HP '68 Chevelle SS396 that I race on the track. I've owned it since 1982 and have had the built motor since 1991.
I've NEVER raced it on the street, nor have I got a ticket in it.

I had a best friend killed street racing on a busy street in 1986.
Someone pulled out in front of him.
It wasn't a pretty site watching the paramedics scrap his brain off the pavement. And I'm not joking about that!

Keep the racing on the track!

100 shot or 150 on the street same thing. Still going to get you in trouble and you risking your life and others. Sorry to hear about your friend.

Thanks. It was a long time ago, but it is something you never forget.
The comment about 100 on the street was just a thought, but I wouldn't race anyway.

I've had the 75hp shot in my Z all summer, but haven't raced anyone.
I've played with it on some back roads, but haven't done it around homes or people.
I figure if I crash and burn, it will be my own fault and stupidity, but at least no one else will get hurt because of me.

IF I'm going to race someone on the street, I would take them out to an old logging road we know of (I live in the country), where there are no homes or people. Maybe an occasional deer or Opossum.
If anyone gets hurt, it's just the people racing.

I'm thinking of towing both my Chevelle and the Z to the drag strip and racing in 2 different classes next summer.

Super Street 10.90 index for my Chevelle
and
Super Stock for the Z

That ought to **** off some of my American Muscle friends.
