Default NItrous Direct Port

Hi am going down the Nitrous route and read a fabulous sticky posted by audible mayhem, great post. Did some search but cant find direction to some of the areas..

so in a brave attempt without being flamed here goes:

1) Does the system have to be direct port or can a single port do on a nitrous kit? Are there any disadvantages or advantages with going with either setup?

2) If done correctly and spark plugs are changed and progressive kit is purchased with a controller, what kind of bhp could we get out of this, would it be best decided on the rolling road?

3) Does nitrous increase times that the engine oil will need changing like when going TT or SC?

4) if staying under 100bhp is braided lines still the better option as heard than braided lines can delay the shot or is this BS?

cheers guys

OK I'm not a super guru but I think I can answer you question with out being bias or flaming you!

1) Does the system have to be direct port or can a single port do on a nitrous kit? Are there any disadvantages or advantages with going with either setup?

No, the system doesn't have to be direct port. A single fogger on your intake tube (after the MAS before the TB) will work fine. There are disadvantages to a single port and direct port. With single port there is a possibility that the disbursement of the NO2 will not be equal across all cylinders. Direct port solves that problem; but the only disadvantage I see with direct port is that it is much more costly to have done and way harder to troubleshoot if something were to go wrong. If I had to choose and could afford to get direct port I would!

2) If done correctly and spark plugs are changed and progressive kit is purchased with a controller, what kind of bhp could we get out of this, would it be best decided on the rolling road?

I'm not sure exactly what the hell you were trying to say but, I've seen some pretty impressive numbers off NO2. I have a buddy with a 03 stock set-up, no tune, 100 shot single fogger ZEX kit put down 349hp and 402tq to the wheels. This was a non corrected dyno run!

3) Does nitrous increase times that the engine oil will need changing like when going TT or SC?

It all depends on how you treat your baby! I just know when to change my oil, she talks to me and I listen! <---- (hey that should be a new line in F&F4 lol). I also use an additive (Lucas) just for protection, it probably doesn't do anything but it makes me feel good.

4) If staying under 100bhp is braided lines still the better option as heard than braided lines can delay the shot or is this BS?

Now r u talking about block hP or bottle pressure. You have to be talking about bottle pressure! Bottle pressure is going to be way higher than 100psi the best pressure is 900psi. I've seen some people run at 1100psi but I keep mine @ 900. SBL's are going to give you some flex but not much. At 900psi there's not going to be any noticeable delay. That’s when a purge comes into play. All you have to do is purge your lines prior to running for instant juice. I've personally have been thinking about doing steel lines but I just don’t want to deal with all the nonsense of bending all those lines.

I hope I have helped you as much as possible feel free to give me a holla at any time!

^^^ You summed that up pretty good ^^ Only thing is I get my bottle up to 1050 for optimal performance. Also you can run a 100 shot without being tuned but you would be a whole lot better off if you tuned it just to be on the safe side.

Thanks TeAm PrOSpEc you really helped me out there, I got a quote for Direct port and installation they wanted to charge me £3000... thats like $5700 dollars and I thought no way. But I am a little hesitant going single fogger incase something goes wrong if I dont get the fuel nitrous ratio correct could lead to it back firing. 75bhp would do me, but I think there is a lot of risk Im probably better of going TT, but then Im not really going to use that power all the time.. ahh decisions decisions...

I've been running a 75 shot on my Z for about a year and some change. I have a single fogger system and it works perfectly fine. What you have to do is call Holly which is the company that makes NOS systems; explain to them what you have done to your car and what type of shot your trying to achive. They will give you 2 sets of numbers, that's your pill size. One is for fuel and the other is for the juice. The 75 shot feels good but trust me after you hit it a couple of times then its time to go for a 100 shot. The 100 shot will be the max I put on my car with or with out a tune and thats because my Z is my DD.
