I was wonder if anyone knew what liability a person who refills nitrous bottles holds? I bought a NOS refill station off Ebay. I was thinking of refilling bottles for guys on the forums. Most places around here charge $4.50 a pound. I figured I can do it for $3 and make a nice profit. Or at least get my bottle filled for free. Is it worth the hassle or not?
So you mean people on the forums could mail you their bottles and get it refilled? If thats what your planning it is HIGHLY illegal to send pressured bottles through any type of mail system.
I believe you're liable for any service you provide to anyone. Whether that's mowing someone's lawn or repairing their car.
You need insurance if you want to be protected. The most protection would probably be offered if you incorporated and then got liability insurance for the corporation.

I meant for the locals!! I will give my insurance lady a call. I may just sell the dam thing. I got pissed and made a rash decision. It really don't seem worth it.
with anything you can say at your own risk. that pretty well takes care of things.
dont you need a liscence or something to distribute this stuff for sale? Id imagine itd be considered a hazardous substance, something the government probably for one reason or another wants to track.
I really dont know, jsut a guess.
I doubt its worth it tho... liability could extend far down the line, what if your product is faulty, and shoots water in the engine or something, their engine locks up, they come back to you demanding you pay for it. thatd suck, and yes, they could probably win that case.
unless you said not your risk, in which case, it might be worth their extra buck or 2 to go somewhere that will stand behind their product.
