$1000 NOS setup?
Can a safe NOS setup be accomplished for $1k? Im looking to do this and have the money set aside for the project. I am new to the world of sports cars and know nothing about NOS or how to use it correctly. If this setup can be accomplishe what products would you all advise me to use? What kind of shot? I would like to be able to run a 75 shot all day without a problem but again I have no idea if this is workable. Please fill me in!
If all you want is a Nitrous setup around a 75 shot, I'd get an NX Express Wet Kit ($500) and add a Gen X package, this includes:
Bottle Heater
Pressure Guage
Purge
Blow down Tube.
Another good part is a remote opener.
Other than that get 1 step colder plugs and you should be set.

Step colder plugs are used for hotter running engines to try and defeat 'detonation'. Here is a helpful site.

^^ What he said on the plugs.
That setup with a 75shot would be capable of low low 13's or maybe a high 12. It just depends on what kind of tires you are running on. Traction would be the biggest issue. NX rates their kits at the wheels, so a 75 shot of NX would gain around 70whp. A typical 350z would make a little over 300whp with that.

Looktome,
thanks for the link, cleared that up a little better!
350Z,
I would be running the stock 17's and Toyo TS1's. Does this sound as if it would help out, or simply cause more probs with traction.
Also do any of you feel that a 75 shot would be more than ok to run on a Daily Driver? What about a 100 shot? What would need to be done to handle that.
Again im sorry about the questions, just trying to get it correct the first time around!

if your going up to 100 shot you'll need one step colder plugs. ngk makes the copper (best IMO) version.
you can probaby get 1 degree colder irridium plugs. i dont know the part # for the irridium plugs.
BUT if you want the coppers (which need to be replaced every 10kmiles) you can get them at
www.rockauto.com the part number is lfr6a-11 or you can look up ngk3672. i used them this past summer. pretty nice. but i need 2 steps coler now so im forced to go with irridium.
nx 100 wet shot put me in the 12's in 45degree weather as you can see. my whole setup cost me about 1400 not including instal. but i did go all out. definatly get the genx kit...very nice. and think about a purge kit and get a blow down tube also. and get the remote bottle opener...with all gauges. this all will depend on how much you want to spend. i was able to go all out because i did the instal myself, but the more you get the more its gonna cost to instal it all. something to think out.
i also have the injen cai in case ur wondering. nothing else done to the car to adjust for the 100shot of n2o besides plugs.
stick to nx....they're pretty good. and their kits come with adjustable jets so you can step up the shot from 35 to 100, and not just go directly to 100.
and its not like your going to be always spraying nitrous. my z is a daily driver also, and im stepping up the shot to.....i dont know yet. but it will be 150+ next summer.
i thought i would stay at 100, nope. its addicting.
think about getting some cheater slicks, like mickey t's. dont go stock tires with n2o, you wont get anywhere on the track. you can try though.

From everything I've seen and read a 75 shot really doesn't stress the engine, epecially if setup correctly. Personally I'm going with a 100 shot.
My setup is going to be:
Injen Intake, Test Pipes, UR Pulley, Borla Exhaust, NX 100 shot, Purge, Heater, Bottle opener, Pressure guage, NGK copper plugs, TS ECU with raised rev limit, MSD window switch (this cuts the flow of Nitrous in the very upper rpm range, and an Apexi SAFC II fuel controller. This combined with some radials or slicks and I should be well into the 12's.
