Default Purging Under The Hood?

i was wonderin if anyone has heard of anyone doin this for coolin purposes? you could purge on your intake manifold or something. the only thing that scares me is hearin people who spray nitrous on their intercoolers runnin lean because of their intakes suck in nitrous. perhaps that is the reason for external purge valves. well, let me know what u think; thanks.

that would be a waste of n20 IMO, stuff is expensive, not worth it.

yeah... if you're gonna purge, might as well put it to good use (like cooling the intake charge). i'm a n2o newb so i'd also like to hear if this would have any negative impact.

the purpose of nitrous is to get mixed in with ur air fuel. so why would it be bad if it got sucked in by the air filter? some nitrous sprays directly into the intake tube. either way,i doubt spraying would make ur car run lean, bc it's not essentially increasing the air flow/volume.

as for purging, i wouldnt recommend purging onto the intake manifold. you could possibly make it crack. just do an external purge.

purge is simply to get all the air out of your nitrous lines, and get your lines totally full of nitrous. When you open your bottle there is already air in your lines so hardly any nitrous actually gets into the lines, and the mix is a very low n20/air ratio. PUrge your lines till you get a thick cloud and your nitrous lines are totally full of JUST nitrous.

If they are not purged you will not get an instant kick, first the air has to be pushed out, then finally the n20 gets to the intake, but by this time the fuel has already been dumped so you actually lose some power for a second or 2 then it kicks in.

When I first went to the track, this killed my times because in 1st gear i got this REALLy lagging feeling right before the n20 kicked in. now I have purge kit so it shouldn't happen.

You want the purge right in front of you like next to your window wipers so you can see how thick the cloud coming out is, soon as its dense shut the purge off. Cooling the intake is worthless since the n20 heading into your intake is already freezing cold and any air along with it is going to drop in temp alot. So a cool intake would be worthless.

Si when you buy a nx kit you have to also buy a purge kit seperately? Also, you have to get a bottle warmer seperately?

Not quite sure if that was a question but if it was, the answer is yes you have to buy them separately.

Technically, it's not air but N2O gas that forms in the line after sitting (boiling to a gaseous state). When you purge it clears that gas out. The line is full of N2O liquid when you see it vent off a white cloud. Nitrous system orifi are tuned for liquid so initially, if not purged, the engine will run rich for a couple of seconds until the liquid from the tank fills the line.

Yes, it's possible to get the gas being purged into an intake but it depends on where everything's situated and how much ventilation (moving vehicle, etc.) there is.

To purge before running nitrous as a power booster is important for proper mixture when initially activated.

There is a system, the nTercooler, that blows CO2 through the intercooler to rid it of heat soak or chill it before a run. CO2 is cheaper but N2O could be used as well (both are cryogenic).

To purge before using the nTercooler would be to assure the line would be full of liquid, ready to chill with a high volume of very cold gas.

If CO2 is ingested into the intake air it's possible to run rich. N2O would be more dangerous, run lean, if it made its way unmetered (uncontrolled) to the intake.
