The Z engine doesn't have a harmonic balancer, it's just a dampened pulley - it has a rubber spacer separating the two pieces. The VQ is internally balanced. There's been a lot of discussion here and on other forums over the years but I've yet to see real proof that a light weight pulley will damage an engine. While there have been a few claims, there's no evidence to support it other than "I have a l.w. pulley installed and now my engine is blown so that must have been the cause".
