Hey everyone. Hope everyone had a great Christmas holiday! I'm stuck at work and it's hectic because one of our main McKesson servers won't down. Work FTL...Oh well.

well that kind is kinda bad for your car, the purpose of a harmonic balance is just that. putting an undedrive pully for the crank is taking away that harmonic balance.

why does everyone install them if they are bad for the car?
How much damage do they cause

The Z engine doesn't have a harmonic balancer, it's just a dampened pulley - it has a rubber spacer separating the two pieces. The VQ is internally balanced. There's been a lot of discussion here and on other forums over the years but I've yet to see real proof that a light weight pulley will damage an engine. While there have been a few claims, there's no evidence to support it other than "I have a l.w. pulley installed and now my engine is blown so that must have been the cause".

aren't all engines internally balanced, kinda the purpose of drilling out holes on the crank shaft when you do an engine build. i have not read up on the vq i myself would not recommend it, they make many other lightweight pullys that do the same thing. just cost a little more.
