That would exclude me, I have a manual. So the best thing to do, is don't touch the stock gears, correct?

I would say yes being that is what many of the guys around here say. I don't have any experience with a FI Z with or without gears. Read through that thread I posted with the gear comparisons. It explains it in there some.

Yes, I started to, but like cbr900, I got lazy after the first page. I will have to go back through when I have some time, but thanks for your knowledge. At least I will know to do more research on it, before I waste money, and not need it.

Any FI Z should NOT get shorter gears. It will only make every aspect of the car harder to controll. You would have a harder time launching the car, need bigger and grippier tires to put it down, spin more also. Gears are torque multipliers.

Also, I can't see how some one could actually say you should use a 4.08 or a 3.9 over the other. The difference really is probably 50 rpm's.

Back in Braldey's 240 days, he had a VLSD from a J30 with 3.9 gears, when stock 240 gears are 4.10's. Could not tell a difference between his and mine.

my $.02

OK, I'm done

edit: Holy sh#t, 500 post damn I'm whoring it up

Unless you plan on drifting stay away from a 2-way. Ever look into a HLSD?

You shouldnt have to mess with your gears since youre FI, you could go to a 3.7 and will notice some difference in the low end, but as Dustin said earlier you might have a lil trouble with traction. Just like for me I have an auto with a vortech and went from the 3.3 to the 3.5 and it makes a pretty big differnece. If I get down on it when I shift, the back end will start to slide. Remember you're going to be in the higher rpm range when cruising b/c of the shorter gear(which is good for me if I wanna mess around a lil bc the vortech needs to be at least 3000 rpm before its starts boosting).
