I was going through all the forums last night and damn.. this thing has spread around like a wild fire.. kind of got me a bit concerned. I called the Orleans Levee police again just to make sure everything was cool. I had already spoken to the head over the board last month when we set this up and he said it was fine. This time I asked if it would be possible to maybe block off a section for us...sorta reserve it. I was speaking with the Sergeant over there and he said by ourselves no we couldn't.. if we hired a detail they could. He even recommended the parking lot section across from where Joe's Crabshack used to be like Soleil suggested.. I thought this would be perfect. The cost is $25 an hour with a 4 hour minimum. This would def help out as it would also tame the lead footed peeps from having us all booted.. he is going to check into it just incase and get back to me. But he is pretty sure this is a “go”. He even seemed interested in the meet and thought it sounded “neat”.
What i was thinking is we can hire them from 11AM until 5PM, that’s 6 hours for $150.. I think if we all pitched in this would be a small cost from each of us and would def make things more enjoyable knowing that we have a spot that’s ours..and some control to help keep things civil..
what do you guys think?
I will post here as soon as I hear back from the Serg..

Serg just called back... everything is good. I will call them that week and setup the times and area... we just pay them cash on the day of the meet. The cost is $25 per hour per each cop. They can block off that parking area. So i will let you all determine if we need more than one officer.. Personally, I think one is enough.
I dont recall how big that parking lot is.. Soleil, about how many cars do you think that area can handle?

Sunday me and Lee (350_LEE) are going to take a run through the Lakefront just to scope it out to see where the best spot would be to block off. Soleil and Hatchboi already did this in the past but back then I don't think this much of a turn out was anticipated.. so we just want to make sure that parking lot would be big enough to have us all out there. We also want to make sure it would be a prime spot for picture taking, bbq's, and anything else we might want to do during the day.. I am pretty sure its going to be fine from what I remember.
if anyone else wants to meet up this Sunday for the ride through it would be cool.. sort of a mini Z meetup.. maybe grab some lunch afterwards..
