I will say this, coming from owning a BMW, about them. If you own one, you will either...

A) Become a skilled mechanic and build up a fancy collection of tools

B) Your wallet will forever remain empty

I was in category A). I finally gave up when I had a massive engine oil leak and just didn't want to be bothered pulling the engine to find it.

Performance wise, they are gems if they are running properly.

Maintenance wise, they are relatively easy to work on, but parts are expensive. And it costs a lot to pay someone to work on them for you.

Older BMW's are true enthusiast cars. If you see one on the road it is because the owner (either current or previous) either did or paid for a lot of preventative work to be done on it. If you keep up with the maintenance schedule they have little history of actually failing and will last a very long time mechanically.

When buying a used BMW, getting the maintenance history behind it is key. I didn't do this (but then again I got the car for such a steal I really couldn't complain too much about it and I desperately needed a car) and I tried hard to do the properly PM work but it all eventually caught up to me. If you have a car that was well maintained by a dealer or true enthusiast, you'll still have to continue with the PM work, but the odds of being left stranded in the middle of nowhere are slim to none.

Don't buy the car if the thought of having to set aside a good chunk of money, yearly as part of your budget, for maintaning it scares you.

So was my Zoom, I even had the lightened flywheel. Hopefully Dontrell can get in there, and see if there are any issues, that weren't seen before.

Never heard of Zoom

ACT seems to have always been a trusted name so I just stuck with that. Plus I've heard good things about them on Z's from multiple members who went FI. It's a bit overkill for NA hehe.

Zoom has been around since the 70's, they were on the drag strips with their product, and very strong at that. I learned that they were recently bought out by Precision Clutches, and it appears that their service went out the door, when they were bought out.

You ain't lying. Every time I get a perfect shift going with my 6puck it feels like my rear end is going to rip itself apart. Pulls hard though, so I'm happy!

Yep, that's why if I did decide to go F/I in the near future, that's one thing I WON'T have to replace.

My stock clutch wasn't doing bad when I first turbo'd. Hell my motor went before the clutch did.
