Don't think I'm going to make it. Hanging out at the camper tonight and rest of weekend.

What do you guys think about this?

http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/ptd/2945553154.html

May snag these for some track rims since they're 17" and don't look half bad?

If I'm thinking right 17x8+53 offset. Yeah good luck with that.

Read read read.... Research research research....

There are much better options that will fit a lot better, and wider so you can run wider tires. Racing of any sort isn't going to be cheap, don't try to cheap out.

I'm not trying to be an *** by any means, but you've been asking a lot of silly questions lately. I understand you are trying to lear, but anything you have to ask has probably been discussed in depth before on this site. Read up and you will learn a lot of do's and don'ts.
Been there done that with 17's. Very limited tire size option, but doable. Imo the weight savings (if any at all) is not worth the limited tire options. I'm much much happier with 18's than anything. If you want to stay cheap check out Rota. Decent autox tire, just don't hit any curbs or pot holes hard, they have a reputation of not being super strong.

He says theyre 5x100. That's not even the right lug spacing. You'd have to get a adaptor... which to me is very sketchy. Save your $500 buy some oem wheels and run them if you need track wheels.

I'm not going to say you're going about this the wrong way because there is no wrong way... anyone who knows me will tell you I am always looking for a deal on Z parts. However, it feels like you're trying to do too much. Just pick one aspect and go with it. If you're going to build the suspension then set a budget and do it. If we're talking about saving a few hundred on wheels or suspension, FI is not in your future.

Even in the microcosm of the "official ohio thread" we've got a lot of combined experience and we're just trying to help you from making any mistakes that you will certainly regret. myv6isfast3r definitely knows his wheel set-ups as he's been there done that... 3 times atleast.

We're all here because of a 350z addiction!

6, but close lol. Thats why i suggest 18's even if the whhels and tires are a little bit more pricey. 17's are not bad at all, but you can find some 5 zigen 17x10+25 for a good deal if you look. Just keep in mind that in 17's youre probably limited to 275's. I run 265/35/18 f 285/35/18 r. I have found a 20mm stagger is very neutral and very predictable. When i had 17's i ran 255/40, 275/40. It was nice and light, but i was lacking a bit of traction that i really wanted/needed. Some run 275 all around, which is not bad, but for how stiff i have my suspension i would be super tail happy running that and i need all the traction i can get coming out of corners.

Just my. 02

Like slow03 said, pick what you wqnt to build 1st and what you want to build it for, set your budget and go from there, you seem to be all over the place lol. If you want to go fast, build your turbo, if you want to be quick in autox, power does very little, suspension and tires are key.

^^^ weird but I can only see half your post until I quote to reply.

Clay didn't know you've had THAT many wheel set-ups. You call that a stiff suspension? I'm excited for your new set-up, that suspension/tires will decimate all. lol

I have 255/285 and I contend there is a bit of under-steer, which I imagine has only gotten worse due to my "aero" choices.

Thanks guys, I guess I am all over the place.
I'd like my car to be faster but I have to be honest with my self because I will be doing more autox than anything else, so I guess I'll stick with suspension as my goal. As for figuring out my budget it really depends on how long I want to wait. So do you guys think I'd be better off finding all the parts that suit my need and that will make my budget? It seems like that would stop me from trying to just get cheap stuff which is what I jump at because I can get it sooner than saving up for real expensive high end stuff that I'm not sure I even need.

You don't have to go super high end, there is a nice middle. I try to stay at the middle/high end. My wheels are cheaper, tires are not the most expensive either, but both are track proven. My Suspension is still a work in progress, (and I've had my car since 04) but I have had great success with Tein Springs and Progress sways. It's more about learning your car. My sticky *** tires helps a lot as well. I finally got shocks. Tokico DSpecs, which are not high end, but Tokico has been around a while and they know what they are doing. I don't know how but I got a killer deal on them as well. Check Autoplicity.com. They have them for like 600, but for some reason if you order them indiviually they are half that. Weird, but they are sitting in my bed room so I didn't have any issues ordering from them.

Research, find what you want and order a part here and there, that way your not tempted to buy crap and your car will become what you want in time. Most importantly get out there and autox and listen the the people that have been doing it for years. Slow is fast when it comes to autox. Best advice I have ever listened to.

Ryan - Probably because I edited it while you were looking at it lol. I sure as **** hope the resetting the idle air control fixes my car. It goes in Today at 2:30 so wish me luck.

Oh, I also ordered the upper and lpk for the new AR build, should be complete this week if all the parts get here. We ever gonna get out and shoot?

I'll be in Nashville for the Middle Tennessee club ZAttack. 100 cars registered so far - and Nashville is a great party town.

Yes and no. I am very impulsive too and have some parts that I slightly regret although they haven't ever given me trouble; it's more a piece of mind thing.

I would say continue to be impulsive, but one part at a time. You're into auto-x, so suspension and tires are going to be key. Specifically tires, sways, and springs/dampers. Find the best possible parts for your budget and go for it! With you're initial $1100 budget, you could definitely accomplish a solid set-up minus tires.
