Hey Mberthia,

I appreciate your response. Im going to try Sterling nissan, then head to Suburban, and if I may ask, how did you push them until they finally agreed. Its getting to a point where its embarrassing to let people look at my car because the first thing they say is, WTF is up with your steering wheel? Its like I have to explain to them that nissan uses cheap leather. Its ridiculous.

I assume your car is under warranty still since your sig says you have a 2004.5 The tech advisor started by saying it was wear and tried to refuse to look into it. I just pleaded my cause. It's not normal that a steering wheel starts to peel. It's designed to have your hands on it to drive it for years. Plead your cause and if not call Nissan NA. In my case, a very thin layer of leather came of. It did not really look bad but that spot was sticky and it's not acceptable to drive with a wheel where your skin is sticking on...
More than anything it's all into how you present it to them.

I've got my own problem to deal with at the dealer soon. My Jeep liberty's manual transmission is noisy like it has marbles in it. Dealer says it's normal. It sound like a diesel school bus... I have to try again. Powertrain warranty ends in September.

Avoid Sterling Nissan....

If you have to go there for any reason, talk to the guy at the front desk named Jim, he was actually helpful.

Hey guys
Its sad to see that the Dealerships are being so picky about what is warranty and not.
Good luck with your Libery, that really sucks.

Nick-I call dibs on the two tier wing!

I'm thinking of going to the Milford meet after I get my new tires and alignment (assuming my ride doesn't get damaged again).

Anyone going?

Yeah, I would fall into that group. But I did manage to get new tires and an alignment yesterday. Kind of pissed because, according to the printout, the fronts weren't out of spec yet my old tires had the uneven tire wear to the point where the inside strip on each tire had no tread.

Nick was saying something about getting together on Saturday to watch the Pistons game... maybe this will be the BW3 meet we've been trying to set up since March.

AJ did you reset the ECU?

Ahhh...gotta love tire shops. Just because it's in spec doesn't mean it's right. It's tough to find a shop that will do it to what you request.

I had that issue on a Mustang years ago. It was obvious the camber was off (outside edge gone) but it was in the allowable spec. They wouldn't drill the factory rivets in the strut towers to set it right so I ended up doing it myself. Redid the rest of the alignment myself too w/ a tape measure. Best alignment I ever had! LOL

Yo 11,

I'll be at BW3's around 6:30-7:00 PM on Saturday for the Pistons' game. You'll know if I'm there...

Late,
Nick

I did a little research and found that:

1) The only thing adjustable on the front wheels is toe.
2) Nominal toe-in is 1.0mm per the service manual
3) The dealership measures toe in degrees (not mm), and from what I've read, positive degrees is toe-in (negative degrees = toe out).

That being said, my front wheel toe was in spec to start, but I had uneven wear -- the inside strip of tread was much more worn than the rest of the tread on both tires. I'm trying to figure out how to get more even wear from this set of tires.

My toe is 0.06 degrees per side. When I trig it out (tire OD of 26.7 inches), I get about 0.7mm per side, or 1.4mm total toe in. I'm wondering if I should get as close to 0 as possible to get more even wear.

I did reset the ECU with the battery break thing.

The light came back on on my way back to the store later that night....

I will not be able to make it this weekend, I have my parents coming in from out of town...

Sean-I agree that most shops won't do a dang thing about it.

Mike-glad you got some freakin new tires....those things were slicks!
