DETROIT Z (meets and events)
- in case anyone is subscribed and doesn't read new posts
- Date to be determine -
I know it's way early in the season, but, just wanted to see if anyone in the Great Lake area would be interested in attending a High Performance Driving Class out at Gingerman Raceway (South Haven, MI - West Coast) this year?
I have never attended, but my friend said he went to a great class out there a couple years ago. I will definitely be making out to one of the first few dates.
CGI Motorsports hosts the classes out there. $225 for the day. All classes are held on Mondays. To learn more about the class, see their website www.cgimotorsports.com

Hmm...
I may have to come and school all of you at the track I guess.
Has anyone REALLY signed up for it.
I would like to do it...
I can just see Billy and Dil's 350Z's FLYING down the straightaway..
Maybe we can get a 350Z group rate?? hahah

I emailed CGIMotorSports a minute ago asking about group rates. I also asked about the signup form. It has a spot for a signature, but the form is a pdf or .doc file.. I asked if a printed signature is sufficient.
I'll keep you posted.
I'll keep you posted.
Wow. I got a reply already - see below -
Good morning Steve,
We don't accept forms through email as we need a signature and a check to reserve your spot. Also, we don't have group rates as you'll see our rates are the most competitive in our area. However, if someone signs up ten students, we "comp" that person's fee.
Thanks for your inquiry,
Chuck

So, there you go fellas. Print up your forms and send 'em in. I'm not so concerned about getting a free entry. I'll just keep nagging you guys until you get signed up! If we get a fair number of people, maybe we'll get a little special treatment or something.. extra track time or something..
But- If you do want to reference me in the at the bottom of the signup form 'How did you hear about us?' "Steve W. 'thekinn' " should suffice. I'll share any proceeds/benefits with fellow participants.

Mike,
Actually the heft and push of AWD is a ^itch at a roadcourse
I would be glad to show you how that thing SHOULD be driven though...
You will need to get a track set of tires and wheels too while your at it....
Is the 26th Memorial day weekend?
Steve-the track grounds is the camping site...its huge.
We can all just put our Z's in a circle and our tents in the middle and pass out. I have a 3 room tent that is really comfortable actually if anyone wants to just use mine...
**Disclaimer there is no humping at the damn track at night, we are in the middle of no-where and sound TRAVELS*****

Im not getting different wheels for one track day. I will get tires though.
Also,
I am assuming there is not actually racing allowed. I mean I know you can pass, but that person has to waive you ahead right? Its not like a real race situation or anything is it?
Not to sound like a puss bag, but I dont want someone smashing into me because they think its a fricken F1 race.

Does anyone know how much it is to camp on the track? Also are any of you taking your gf/wifes. I told Jess about this and she said she wants to go. (This was a surprise to me too.)
Mike - Dont worry I already have another Milan day in the works. I dont have a date set yet because the track isnt open yet. I already have a list started. 27 people.

I would recommend emailing info@cgimotorsports.com if you have questions not answered in the FAQ. I got a very fast reply to my email. Or call them 815-412-9877.
My GF will be coming along as a spectator

Camping - If I were you, I'd check with CGI or Gingerman to make sure it is available for the event. Here is a link to camping info on Gingerman's site -> http://www.gingermanraceway.com/camping
Between the drive out there, the exhaustion of tracking all day, and my wuss-boy need for a nice bed and shower - I opt for the Hotel room. I still need to research hotels.. I know there is Comfort Inn close by.
