Here you'll find everything you need to know about our fall BBQ.
Basic Details
Location: Lake Erie Metropark
Area: Wave Pool Parking Lot
Date: September 13th

We will be in the same pavilion as the Spring 08 BBQ. As always, there are basketball courts, a baseball diamond, tennis courts, bike paths, etc. Come prepared to use that stuff if you want. Hopefully there's no dog races going on this time. :lol:

BBQ Sponsors
I'm going to do something a little different this year and highlight our sponsors. Every BBQ for the past many years have had sponsors involved to help with cost, food, or prizes for our raffle. Without them, the BBQ's would be kind of plain. Thus, I'm trying to make sure everyone knows who is involved in bringing this fun event to the public. We always have a title sponsor but there are plenty of other sponsors involved normally and I want to make sure they are recognized.

General BBQ Info
What is provided/expected of me?
We provide: The burgers & dogs with buns, the grill, the cooks, and a few other things.
You provide: The rest! Bring some pop, chips, cookies, etc. What you bring is up to you but we need you to bring something! The participation of everyone ensures that we have plenty to drink and snack on over the 7 hours we're at the park. We do ask for an emphasis on drinks as that's not something we want to run short on.
If you are unable to bring something.. please don't let that deter you from coming. No one is out in the parking lot checking your hands. I understand how money comes and goes and the last thing I'd want is for you to skip the bbq because you can't bring something. If you're broke.. hitch a ride and come!
If you want to bring something, please sign up so we know what to expect. You don't have to sign up to bring something, but it's helpful so we know if we're going to be short on something.

PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF!
When we reserve a pavilion at the Metroparks, we have to APPLY for it. If our name gets associated with constantly trashing their lot, they aren't going to give us the reservation the next time we ask for it. For the most part, we're all adults at this event. Please act like one. When you're done with your pop or food, go place the items in the proper receptacle. It's very easy and I'm sure your mommy taught you this at a young age.
We provide bags for trash and cans, please use them!
The Raffle!
As always we'll be having a raffle. If you're new or just don't know, we sell raffle tickets at our BBQ's to cover expenses for food, the pavilion, the grill, and all the other little things we end up buying to make the day work right. The Spring BBQ receipts were in excess of $750 and it just keeps getting more expensive every year. Your help by buying raffle tickets makes this event keep going! Plus it gives you a chance to win some swag.
As always, I have NO idea what is going to be raffled off. It seems like these things tend to fall into my lap the day of the BBQ and I wish I could have a little more control, but I'm thankful for every thing we are given to raffle off. If it weren't for the generous donations by people/businesses, you'd probably not want to buy tickets and I'd end up canceling these events due to lack of funds.
We'll have our normal rowdy group wandering the BBQ parking lot and eating area to sell tickets. Count on them having a special way to get more tickets for less money. It usually has something to do with one of our taller member's wingspan for $20 which is a killer deal.
One last quick note to cover something that became a big deal last Spring. YES, we sell raffle tickets and YES, we do have paid memberships here on the site. Something that everyone may not realize is the monetary cost of running this site. We just moved to a server that cost $1200 and will almost double our monthly hosting bill. That's not something my wallet can easily handle and it's where our members and generous raffle ticket purchasers come in. I want to thank you all for understanding the real world cost of running this site and helping accordingly.2

Q. Who is welcome?
A. EVERYONE! And I do mean everyone. I noticed that year after year, it's mainly sport compact guys that show up despite the fact that we have a lot of different vehicle owners lurking about here. Hop in your vintage Mustang and bring it down, ride your motorcycle, bring the lifted F250, I don't care! I encourage everyone to come out and have fun. Bring the wife and kids.. we try to keep things family friendly. It's a great day of eating, socializing and some hot cars to stare at as well.
Q. Can I bring beer?
A. We usually discourage this type of activity for a few reasons. First and foremost, we're a gigantic gathering of cars. This kind of makes us incredibly obvious to police. No one at XceedSpeed condones drinking beer and then driving a car. Secondly, the park rangers are VERY aware of our presence and drive through our gathering constantly throughout the day. The less reason they have to stop, the better. If you must bring beer.. it has to be in plastic bottles. No hard liquor is allowed in the park either.
Q. Can I bring my dog??
A. Of course! We've had plenty of people bring dogs of all sizes. Just make sure you have the pooch on a leash and that it's not going to eat someone else's dog.
Q. Is there a cost?
A. You will need to pay $4 per car to enter the park. That is the only cost to you. But you should come prepared to buy some raffle tickets.
