Factor in gas, food, cost of a cabin room, possibly a night in a hotel each way, and you're looking at close to $500. I got over 400 miles on a tank of gas driving down south. So basically 3 tanks of gas to get there, and another $100 for a room over the weekend, and you bring your own food and drink.
Depends on where you want to stay. If you do plan on staying at the lodge yea it's going to be alot more expensive or if you can set up to be with a group of people and get a cabin to rent on the fontana resort lodge it will be alot cheaper too. But yea it is alot closer to $1000

My MN posse!Bon voyage, Ben! Safe trip to Japan!
I only spent $100 on my share of the cabin. Gas was expensive. I brought food and drink but still ended up going into town a couple of times for a real meal.
Just bring lots of snacks like jerky, chips, water, soda pop, etc.
