Been there, done that. I wrote up my own DIY on Tech and even added pics.

I showed how you can take apart the door panel and get to the motor. The motor sucks, plain and simple. I cleaned it half a dozen times using anything and everything. Drenched it with electrical cleaner and used forced air to clear it out.

Alex, my late FIL has 2 or 3 of those propane heaters down in ABQ. Looks like they're mine now.

ohhh wow. So I am guessing that you feel confident to fix it with the purchase of a new motor?

Is it your driver side? If you know what your doing maybe I can learn from the Master and swap out motors when you do it??

Call me Master Bates.

I know what I'm doing with that window motor. If you have an acct on Tech, go over there and look for it under the How To section.

If you want to come over to my house when it's warmer, we can do it then.

Yea, I checked it out. I thought I had my mind made up that I would just have someone handle it who knows what they are doing instead of taking the risk of screwing something up myself. But if you are fairly confident than I would rather work on my own car and learn.

I will order the part up and buy food & drink if you're willing to help out. When are you planning to do yours?

I have no problem helping out a fellow Z enthusiast, especially when it's something I know.

When my fingers and hands don't freeze up, I'll be ready to do it. I would guess in March.

Well, damn. I mapped out a route to do the entire 494/694 loop, which came out to 75 miles, but I guess you guys get the idea. I've always wanted to get a group of Z's together for this type of 'meet.'

What do you think?

I bumped your beer thread.

No problem! I'm really curious to see the difference between the new motor and the old one (different brushes or copper contact). Might have to take lots of pics to add to that thread.

Yea me too...apparently carbon build up was the big problem with the original motors. They are the same motors in RC cars...lol.

Decisions, decisions....

I might not be at the car show too long if I go. I want to go swimming today, but the pool is only open from 2:30 to 4. Bday party is around noon, so if I get dropped off at the River Center after that, I'll probably only be at the show for an hour or so.
