Where did you live in the San Diego area? I guess I didn't notice a lower standard of living.

 

I lived in La Mesa literally on the eastern border of San Diego.

I had a good paying job and so did my wife and we still felt poor. I also thought the politics and the crime levels were too crappy for me to continue living there.

Wierd. I lived in La Mesa for about a year, then moved a little further out to El Cajon. There was certainly more crime than in Cottage Grove, but not worse than say North Minneapolis. Different strokes I guess. I'd move back there in a heartbeat if my job asked me to transfer back. Taxes were stupid to be sure, but after 6-7 months of this weather, I'd pay a small fee for "75 and sunny" year round.

 

I don't even want to drive the Z in the rain. It'd be hard for me to drive it in the winter and with all the pot holes and unpredictable MN weather, just can't let it sit in the parking lot without driving since I just got it out of a rent storage couple of weeks ago.

Unless I get a better beater or new car (don't want no car loans anymore, though), but it's tough keeping up maintenance with 3 cars.
