The Z has no competition. It's old.
Speaking of which, how does one define a car's competitor? What are the thresholds for that? Price, performance, marketability?
I like some Lexus models, but they all bore me after a while unless there's a hot chick in it.

Not really sure it's gonna be Z competition, Lexus just said it's gonna start at 60k vs the 40's they had predicted earlier.
As usual the pre production sketches/graphics look way better than the actual car.

I'll wait to see the final product before deciding if I like it or not. Im not sure what is going on with my personal taste in cars these day, is it that I'm getting older?. I'm just not feeling most of the new cars coming out, don't know what it is but I just don't care for a lot of the style getting used and they're all starting to look the same. Hell I have a hard time telling the difference from a Toyota/Kia/Hyundai/Jag/Infiniti these days from anything over 25ft away, and I know its not my eyesight.

my guess is the first thing will be body style: coupe, convertible, sedan. Followed by performance (HP, curb weight, engine types+size, top speed, 0-60, ). Price is probably the last factor used to compare what you get between manufacturers and what group its being marketed to (older/younger). So basically how well can a car do the job it was built for. So like the M3 vs Mustang GT is almost a $24,000 dollar difference, but quality, ,rigid body, and etc of the M3 beats a mustang any day. Ehmmmmm ehmmm cough Emad
Okay NVM its more confusing the more I think of it....anyone have a hand book.

Oh, good. Interesting that Shane found me on Tech. That was just before I left for my vacation.
I'm uploading some pics now. Should be on G+ soon.

holy HEAT! These are the days that I'm happy to be inside an office all day, that's for sure!
Dave - you really haven't been to the state fair in 10 years?! That's craZy!
Just a heads up, I wanted to invite all of you on a cruise I planned on the 1st. Yes, its Labor day weekend, not sure how traffic will be, but we've got quite a few cars already committed to going so it should be fun. Emad in his Mazda and I drove the route this past Saturday and it was a blast! Turned out to be about 2 1/2 -3 hours (estimated since we actually modified the route due to a road being completely closed for construction).
Anyways, here's the list so far, just wanted to be sure I invited you all!

State fair is boring and lame. I am not impressed.
This is my kind of weather. Love it. You mere mortals can stay inside all you want. The streets are mine!

I'd agree, the Z actually performs damn well in the heat...N/A obviously. Saturday when Emad and I tested out the route, was the first time I was able to get my oil temps over 200 degrees.
Weather sucks a$$ nordic ***** arent supposed to live in this ****.
Picked up and brought 16,850 sqft of pavers for house and extra car port.
redid Chevy 3/4 ton shift link/trans/torque converter, installed shocks and brakes for ram, full head unit and new sound system speakers, 2 12" subs....ram bumps clean and precise now=heat stroke
But, also have been finishing up the secret street fighter (keep yo mouth shut Sam) , have serious unveiling on new LS project, GM not Z derived btw.....will be done&tuned properly w/in 2-4 weeks....& I will be putting up pinks at Sonics in case anybodies wondering

He was on the verge of doing the LS1 swap but I don't know if it was the funds was the problem or just lost interest in it all together, I don't know I can't speak for him. I think he just wanted to get back into riding again, and insurance on a rocket and Z would be pretty expensive, plus racing on a bike is a little more economical than a car. Wish him the best and hopefully will find his way back in a Z in the future.
He wont be getting back into a Z, since his winter is a PT cruiser. His next summer car is looking to be a Pontiac G6. Shame as I really enjoyed watching him drift, and was his only fan.
