I picked up a stock injector loom yesterday. Will start my wiring project tonight or tomorrow with it on the Z.
Finished up the interior plastics on my S2000 today. Needed to order a couple more clips for the rear pan, but everything is in place.
I spent 3.5 hrs last night replacing the oil squirter banjo bolts on the honda as well. few yrs down the line they updated them from a 2 hole (larger holes) banjo bolt to a 4 hole (smaller holes) setup. Had to pull the oil pan, baffle and use an array of extensions to get at them. it went OK, had oil dripping on me the entire time. I did get it buttoned up and oil pan back on and resealed. I have a little exhaust work to do on the car and the honda will be all done and read to be driven.
Honda got a little love this yr:
new plugs
new belt
new timing chain tensioner
updated intake valve retainers
updated oil banjo bolts
new convertible top
new battery
exhaust work
Z:
new fuel lines
inline fuel filters
Adjustable Fuel regulator
front extended wheel studs
getting the sub box repaired... keeping my fingers crossed i get it back this week.
... and a couple other things I have yet to work on.

yes still have evo-power.... these cars are starting to get old now. had my evo now 7 yrs...
just thought I would update on the tune from tuesday. ended in the same fashion as my tune last may in chicago. disappointing to say the least considering the work I put into the fuel system. What we saw after troubleshooting last year I was very confident it was a fuel injector issue.
I wasn't at the physical location with the car last year and not sure what was seen/heard on the dyno. I was at the dyno tune this year and I can tell you the car was smoking too much coming out of boost, indicating the seals on the turbo(s) are failing. A failing oil seal in a turbo can push oil into the charge pipe and effectively lower your octane rating causing knock.... which is exactly what was happening when we try to push beyond 10 psi. Upon inspection of the FMIC feed yesterday, there is enough oil in the pipes to be of concern.
at the end of the day, we ended at 451.5 whp @ 10 psi of boost on DB's dynodynamics dyno. That is pretty decent power given the boost level. Still a far cry from hitting my goals of 16+ psi of boost and seeing at least another 100 hp.
Going really anything beyond 10 psi, the car would start to detonate. I pulled a couple plugs and cylinder one plug shows some signs of detonation. This is the same cylinder that had the issues last year.
My game plan at this point:
Compression check and inspect all plugs
pull fuel rails and inspect for any debris/blockages
^ if all that looks normal, which I am suspecting it will be, I will then venture into pulling the turbos.
I have contacted a company about my options if it comes to rebuilding the turbos. I would like to move up to a slightly larger turbo/cartridge if it comes to this.

Welp, it's time. Taking a trip up north to bring the Z out of storage. Someone might have to fire up the grill soon.
Aaron, sounds like you're dealing with some annoying ****. Hope it all works out for you. Would be cool to get you out with everyone more than one day per year.
Edit: Realized this may not make sense, as the last time I was out with the MN guys was... 2009?

Had a long conversation with George @ ATP turbo about my turbo options. Doesn't seem to make sense financially to rebuild the current turbos. It is within 10% of the cost of slightly larger turbos that might fit my needs/goals better. going to do some work on the car this weekend to try to confirm my theory about the health and wellbeing of the motor. I have a remote session set up on monday to pinpoint an issue with the new EMS.
I would like to get out and make a meet or two this summer. Work in the last 4-5 yrs has consumed me in the warm months. there really isn't any escaping it with the changes to the industry and the newer demands put upon growers. Last year even worse with my injury.
I look back with a smile on the past. the good old days when these cars first came out and were special. they still are special, but not in the same way. The OG owners know what I am getting at. This august marks 13 yrs with the car. When I was at DB on Tuesday shane and I were talking about the elite days when I first had the car on their dynojet with n/a parts on it. He laughed and said you told me you had plans to turbo the car after that.... I laughed and pointed to the car in its current state, and said, yeah, I did, and that's what I ended up with

This month marked my 13th year with the Z. Can't believe it's been that long. I'm itching to bring her out and drive, but now I've been so damn busy with work and family things that I'm getting frustrated. I'd like to get a group together and just go somewhere or do something in the Z, even if it means driving to different spots around town.

I need wood for the bonfire. After 2 seasons, we finally burned the stump from hell. Thanks, Greg!
So is this a good deal for a cord of wood?

here's the update on the car. haven't had a chance to do a compression check yet. but I did do a remote session with the haltech. they updated the firmware to a "beta" version and it resolved my VVT (cam) issue. this gives me some sense of relief as there was a back of the mind concern there was an assembly issue with the timing not being correct.
Now it seems I am on to figuring out which turbos to get (and how to pay for them).... (and finding time and motivation to pull the motor to install them).
I am likely getting a pair of GT3071R. Ive seen a car similar to mine pull 610+ @ 17 psi with that pair of turbos. though I have an option of a GTX series as well that supports higher HP. The regular GT should be enough for my goals, but want to buy the most robust turbo I can. will be talking to ATP today to see what fits my needs best. been a long 13 yrs with this car. 2016-2017 has been a tough period for me with her. It almost rivals 2007 and my dealings with a local machine shop.

Well, Brandon's robotics team barely missed winning the tourney yesterday, so they're not eligible to go to the world championships. We went last year in St. Louis, and it was great. They didn't do so well this year. The only good thing is that it's saving me over $1k for the trip.
