Lightbulb Winter Projects '08-'09

Anybody have plans for the winter? I picked up a couple rebuild/refurbish projects that I should be able to have ready before spring.

Brembo Rebuild/Paint. Picked up all four calipers for $100. Figure a rebuild will be $100-$150 per caliper, plus paint.. Should have a set of Brembos for about $700 total (or less)

Next are a set of Forgeline ZX3R wheels. 18x9, 18x10. Not sure of offsets yet - but they were on a Z. Picked up all 4 for $400. Figure $300-$600 to repair/refinish each. I should come out with a set of Forgelines for about $2500 or less - for the track. www.forgeline.com

What projects do you have planned?

Lip kit paint and coilover if I got the money. Also want new tires for next year when Nitto releases the sizes I want.

OP damn steal on the Forglines BTW, those are my fav wheels in that style, but i'll never spend the money on them, mind saying where you got them?

Coilovers would be nice.. I'll have to keep dreaming and keep saving.

The Forgelines come with a story. The super-cliff-note version is - I go to the same track as this guy...

He decided to get out of T2 after this recent incident - and someone from his crew looked me up.

My winter project is not crashing due to Chicago snow and mapping out my spring/summer Z plans.

It seems money has gotten tight as hell lately. With the Michigan economy in shambles, I've slowed spending on nonessentials. So my winter projects will be slow ones.

I may polish the intake plenum and timing cover while the car is on jack stands for the season. I'll clean and paint the calipers probably. I have a spoiler on the way but that only takes a few minutes to install. I'm considering having Marsh Plating in Ypsi quote black chrome on my stockies. Something a little different from the folks who paint the wheels. Black chrome won't be too flashy.

I think these projects shouldn't break the bank.

Is black chrome as heavy as regular chrome? I'm curious.

once the z is done (crosses fingers for spring) im going to start swapping thek24 into the hatch + repaint, or trade it for something. but at the current moment, sub 40+mpg is fine for me

I'd assume so. It should be a lot more durable than homw spray paint jobs or powdercoat. It'll be on my wagon wheel stockies so if the cost is too high, I'll skip it.
