SE Michigan: Install Party
I'm still indecisive on what exhaust to get. This Fast Intentions thing sounds good in some videos and terrible in others. I wish someone local had one...
I guess that it wouldn't work for this fall anyway since there is about a month lead time to get the darn things.

I plan to drive the Z until the ground is cold enough for snow to stay. (Usually around Thanksgiving.)
I will probably still work on it during the winter. So I'll store it up on 4 jackstands with the tires off. So much I want to do, so little cash in the wallet.

Ummm, I have one. You can listen any time. I too have a track day on Saturday - after that, the Z goes under its cover - but I would happy to let you listen to the exhaust.

Lee, just jump in and go for it. Leave the cats on at first. If it's too quiet, go with TPs or HFCs.
That is indeed silly.
I think I'll give it a shot. Hopefully I can get it before I have to put the car away. I need to find a good outdoor cover too.
I was thinking 18" resonators and carbon fiber cans, but I think I might just get the SS cans and 12" resonators. Most of the reviews I've read are that it is relatively quiet, and with the SS cans it still loses 10lbs (16lbs with the CF cans) from stock.

Get it Lee!
WE can work on it for sure before the year is over.
Also TP and HFC's will REALLY change the sound of it too...

I got it ordered with 12" resonators and SS cans. I figure if it's not loud enough I can get test pipes or the HFCs. It should arrive second week of November. ;(
Any opinions on sway bars? I was thinking of getting that Hotchkis set.

Probably should have held one today. The weather was great. Changed the plugs today. I was surprised the condition of the OE plugs after 65K miles. They were due.
I think my valve cover gasket is leaking a little around the hole for the rear drivers side sparkplug hole. I stuck the socket in and it was 1/3 full of oil. It was also inside the plug boot making me wonder how well the cylinder was firing. I pulled the plug and didn't look like the spark plug itself was getting oil fouled. Dumb me, I pulled it before cleaning out the oil so the garage smoked up a little on start up.
Finally installed the 5/16 Motordyne spacer and the Cusco catch can. Not sure if it was the sparkplugs, the spacer or the fact that I finally got the ECU reset, but the power really picked up! Throttle response is a whole lot better and power band broader. I'm going to try an enjoy the power before I have to put her to sleep for the winter. I expect Thanksgiving will be my last weekend with it unless snow comes early.
Still have radius arms to change, toe bolts to install, longer studs, spacers and rolled fenders. The list never ends.

Nice Brian! It was probably the spacer, as I definitely felt a difference when I installed mine. How hard is it to do spark plugs on our cars? My car sometimes struggles when starting up so I'm curious as to if I'm running too lean and killing my spark plugs.
I still need to do my camber arms too, but I just changed the oil in the 4Runner today. Couldn't get the filter off, but it's a mobil 1 high capacity (don't know why I got the fancy filter for the 4runner) so just put new oil in instead.

It's easy to do. $45 in Iridium IX plugs and 1 hour of your time. Each valve cover has three coil packs. Unbolt and pull the packs and you should see the plug down the hole. All you need to remove is the intake tube.
Yep. I think it took me a little longer.. you are working in a pretty tight space. I think I took my strut bar off too to give me a little more room. The DIY on this site is pretty straight forward.
OK so how's everybody's schedule this Sat?
We could do an install party or just meet for lunch. I still need to install my camber kit but don't mind waiting till next year since I'll probably be putting the car away in a couple weeks and I don't want to drive it too much without an alignment anyways.
If we decide to just go lunch, I say we have a hooter's meet in Novi haha.
Weather is 30% chance of rain right now, but we all know Michigan weather changes by the second.......
