I went and checked the exhaust section and there are too many combinations of the sound clips. I see alot of the Nismo 350Z guys have used Berk HFC's so I might want to use them.

Brian, I am assuming by race cat you mean HFC's?

I do not plan to spend tons of money on the exhaust, this is just to bring up the tone a little so that it adds to the feel when you drive. I do not plan to upgrade to something that will need me to wear earplugs. Also, you were talking about your full insurance coming off? Do you just keep basic coverage in winters?

How stupid of me
I called my insurance agent and I save about 70$ a month by switching over to basic in winter time. I never paid attention the last year.

Unfortunately can't do the same with my motorcycle.

Deepu, Yes Race Cats are Highflow Cats.

If you are looking for the best power bang for you buck get non resinated TP's...
I you want a deeper tone ONLY then get some HFC's. you get a little power out of them though they do wear out alot quicker then regular cats.

Personally I LOVE BERK all my stuff has been them and I have NEVER had a problem.

Deepu, I agree with AJ. Resonated test pipes will give you the most power. With that said, I have heard/read that that high flow cats will also give a nice boost - especially on the HR motor. I have Berk high flow cats on my Z. I had a Berk test pipe on my S2000. Berk makes great products. The only issue I had with the HFCs was a whooshing sound when accelerating. That went away when I installed the FI Intimidator.

Hey Brian and Deepu,

So I've been doing some searching, and I think I might take the gamble and try to get the car aligned first without the camber kit.

I don't really want to drill into the suspension for the toe bolt, and if I can get around -2.0 camber I think I should be ok. So I'll try to get it aligned either tmrw after work or Sat. morning early.

If I can't get it enough, then I"ll plan to install the kit saturday

I took the same gamble. Paid $100 to align and couldn't get the toe in line. (But I dropped a hellova lot more than you did.) You might not need it. Frank at Dick Scott Nissan got everything in line except the toe in the rear.

Why not make a plan to take it in on Saturday am. I'll meet you there and bring the Dremel. (If you're taking it to Dick Scott, Frank will install the toe bolts while it's on the rack.) Throw him a $20 in his pocket and he'll prolly never mention it to the shop. This way it's dialed in for sure.

As for me, I have to install the bolts and then go back for alignment #2.

Made an appointment at Dick Scott tmrw morning at 9:30.

Frank is not there anymore, and the other two GTR tech's won't be in either. But they said I could give them a range of specs and they'll try to get it there. And they'll be using the in-ground "GTR" alignment rack.

I know Belle Tire only charges like $60 for an alignment, but I'm hoping since it is a Nissan Dealership, they'll do a better job on the Z. Plus I got a 10% off coupon so it'll be $90.

When I got my camber kit I read a little about toe bolts and it felt like they are useful for Drifting.

Why are you getting this installed Rob? Autocross?

Do you want to meet up at the dealer? Maybe they will let us go in the shop and watch. Deepu, since the dealer is so close to you, do you want to meet up there too?

I'll bring the Dremel just in case they can't get it dialed in. My gut instinct (and it's a big gut) is that your mild drop won't throw it off enough to need the bolt kit.

Deepu, the bolt kit just adds more adjustment. Drifters may purposely alter the toe to allow them to break the rear tire's traction loose a little quicker.

You guys can meet up at the dealership with me if you want to chat and hangout lol. But honestly I don't know if they'll let us go back there and watch, last time the guy said it was a liability thing, but he said maybe. Brian did they let you go back there last time?

Deepu I wanted to add the rear camber kit because I was afraid I'd be at -3.0 camber or something with the lowering springs, so I wanted to bring it back to about 1.5-2.0.

Yeah I think with such a mild drop I should be fine. You guys are more than welcome to come and hangout with me if you've got nothing else to do lol, but I don't think I'll be installing anything there.

Frank was cool and the shop manager let me walk back there. (Not hang out.) I bet they would if we asked. Dick Scott is pretty supportive of the Z-community members. It would be best to do this right at 9:30 am since I think the dealers and other managers come in around 10am.

Frank's no longer at Dick Scott. Gary, the Service Manager is a great guy. He'll let you go back there.
Jeff Heldt is the master Tech and he's a great guy too.

Yea they said Frank is not there. But I got a tech named Rob who was really nice and went out of his way to help me out. He was hella cool and tried to get exaclty what I wanted. Kept on coming out to show me the numbers.

In the end here are my numbers:

Left Front..........................Right Front
-1.0°..........Camber.........-1.4°
8.4°...........Caster............8.5°
-0.01°.............Toe..............0.02°

Left Rear..........................Right Rear
-1.5°..........Camber.........-1.6°
0.01°...........Toe............0.00°

And this is WITHOUT a rear camber kit. So as you can see, S-Tech's can totally get back within spec without the rear camber kit (before was like -2.4).

However, we were both confused why my fronts were so different. And since the fronts are not adjustable, there was no way to make them more even. I dunno. Even so, I autocrossed the car yesterday and couldn't really feel a difference. Daily driving maybe the car tends to drift to the right, but it's most likely in my head.

Anyways, I'll monitor my tire wear, but since I'm running a square setup and can rotate all 4 wheels any which way, it'll be hard to notice the effect of camber difference.

Anybody want to buy a brand new SPC rear camber kit? $150 delivered Deepu you know you want more negative camber in the rear for better corner exit powa....

WOW
Learned alot reading that.
I would have thought for sure you would need that, but man there is alot of play in the suspension. That is really good to know.

Glad to hear Dick Scott took care of you!

LOL .... I am done with the purchases for this season. I first need to sell my wheels (17x9) before I do anything. And I did not want to do rear camber kit.

I had to work both the days in the weekend and totally forgot about the autox.

Glad things worked out Rob. Sorry to have bailed on you on Saturday. (My brother flew into Cincinnati from LA and I drove down to meet up.)

I hoped the Nissan tech wouldn't need the Dremel. Did the tech give you a print out of the before and after or did he just tell you the numbers? I thought it was a nice setup.

Ordered my sway bars today. Looks like the exhaust will be delayed due to UPS destroying two other guys exhausts. ;/
