I was just somewhat joking about the 315.....you would have all kinds of VDC issues if you ran a 30 rear with a 35 or 40 front. I think you will be more than happy with 275/35 or 40 all the way around. Only thing is that I would have probably gotten the same width wheels on all 4 corners, but that will just limit tire rotation.

I actually contemplated getting the 9.5 wheel all the way around so I can rotate easier, but I eventually want to try a 295 in the rear. I am still learning all these tire set ups. I want to try R-comps first staggered then try a square set up to see the differences.

If you stagger.....I would just start out at 275/295 or 265/285. Are you going to be changing wheels track side or using them to commute to the track as well?

I normally drive the Z to Mid Ohio since it's close and I normally trailer it anywhere else I go, but now I am putting R-comps on, I will probably trailer it everytime. I don't want to put any more miles on them then I have to.

You are HPDE 3 now right? Have you considered just moving up to Hoosiers or Kumho's? The R6's (harder compound than A6's) and V710's will offer substantially more grip than even the NT01's. Just a thought.........since you are fairly advanced and can trailer the car. I am talking down the R888's, but that is only in comparison to the other R-comps. They will still be every bit as good in terms of grip and better handling heat than the top of the line extreme summer tires (RS3's, Star Specs, etc).

Yes, I'm in HPDE 3. I don't want to make the jump to Hoosiers just yet. I would like to ease my way into it. I will definitely try to get some NT-01's or RA1s. I really appreciate your advice.

I'm done with the track until I can iron out my front brake issue. I think my pads are still getting hung up on the inside slider bracket. I think the outside edges of the pads are hitting those brackets and not allowing the pistons to be pushed back into the caliper - resulting in the pad dragging on the rotor.. and generating a lot of heat.

Difficult to explain in text..

I changed my pads back after my 2nd track day and the dust boots disintegrated, crumbled, gone. Not to mention surface cracking on the rotors (this was visable after the first track day).

So, I rebuilt the front brembos myself this time (stoptech piston seals, dust boots).. Put the street pads back on.. and might buy a dremel to file down the bracket as it sits in the caliper.. Otherwise I'd have to take the caliper apart (in half) to unscrew those slider brackets to file down. It took me a few days from start to finish. Many many hours of work to get back to this point though.. I'm pretty fed up.

Budget is tight.. wish I could go nuts and get a Stoptech 6pot kit and call it a day.. but just can't do it with other responsibilities calling for my wallet.

So, have fun guys. I hope to get out there one more time this year... not likely until late Aug or Sept.

Default Gingerman in August with NASA

I haven't been able to hit Gingerman this year. I see that NASA is there for a 2 day in Aug (21-22).

Rob, Lee H are you guys interested to join?

I'm kinda thinking about it now since my folks aren't coming up that weekend and my girlfriend will be out of town. Pretty cheap for a two day.

Why do you not like NASA events?

For me the only issue seems to be that we only get 4 sessions like they promise. We have been spoiled by Ken@3Balls with loads of extra track time. However, after doing Mid-Ohio I really lost interest in say Waterford. Not that I have mastered it but I have been there so many times that now I am itching for new tracks

All this time I always avoided Calabogie as I didn't want to deal with visa issues. We just got our GREEN CARDS !! It's great to finally settle down here. I can now go to Calabogie too. I am not sure if I will, because my mother will be visiting us from abroad at the same time.

I am sure NASA runs great events. I attended two at Waterford a couple of years back and they were just mobbed with people and way too nit picky for me. I prefer the laid back, 3 ***** approach. Plus, it is very difficult for me to justify any two day events unless I bring the family, which can be a PITA. I have to limit myself to 5-6 track events per season right now. When my kids get older, I plan to step it up a bit.

I hear you about new tracks. I loved Mid-Ohio and definitely want to try Calabogie. With that said, I still have a BLAST at Wateford, Grattan and Gingerman.

Lee, So I was checking out Calabogie and it seems to be a 10hr drive. I am not sure if I want to drive my car that far for a track event. I think it would be better if the car can be towed.

If you do attend what do you plan to do?
