Suggest I40 East and get off at exit 407 and take 66 into Sevierville. It's a 4 lane road with fewer red lights. It rolls right into Sevierville and up onto 441 through Pigeon Forge. Mile wise it's probably slightly longer but it has to be faster with interstate speeds and 55 mph 4 lane roads.

You won't miss anything not taking Chapman Highway out of Knoxville.
Cool...I'll revise maps and repost when i get a few free minutes.

I was just thinking to myself how I could just forget the maps and follow... but then I remembered that I don't have a very good track record for that.

Anybody use Google Latitudes? Might be cool to watch the caravan converge on Lexington via GPS.

3 of us from ZROC are heading down Monday, taking an alternate detour. Skirting Knoxville on 75, down to 68 south and east, over to the Cherohala and over that into Robbinsville, then up 28 to FVR. Trying to avoid the tourist areas at the end of a long drive. Anyone see a problem with that route? Yours looks more scenic maybe but we are going for time and distance and have plenty of time that week to do the tourist route if desired.
Some of our members will be trying hook up with you on Thursday, we also have some on Wednesday. Not quite the crew that we usually bring but still a good number. We could have a hella parade coming back Sunday if we all left together - ZROC would be happy to demonstrate our "pick and roll" through traffic, lol

I know there is some interest in a Caravan back. I'm flexible, just don't want to wait too late in the day to come back. I have family from out of town visiting that weekend as well. what time is ZROC heading north?

TBD. Usually between 9 and 10 AM - might be closer to the 9 since the detours add some time. We'll make that up though.

How about we stage the caravan in front of the Rec Hall/Grill and plan to leave promptly at 9:30AM Sunday?

Runs thru Madisonville - was going to take 411 out of Maryville to hook up with it but that part of the trip is a cluster**** anyway so heading back a bit SW on 75 as it is interstate.

that is where we usually stage from after getting checked out. going to try to check out the night before as that, too, is a cluster**** on Sunday morning.
I'll spread the word. We have had some great 25+ car caravans on sunday and made some excellent time.

I'm down for that if we leave early enough.

I know the route you're taking. I used to live in Loudon, TN which is a couple exits closer to Knoxville on I-75. The route you have going down 68 is OK but the route is 31 miles longer according to Mapquest. Honestly, I think you will find the route down 441 to be a little more scenic and entertaining. Cutting through Pigeon Forge is not a problem off the weekends or holidays. The by-pass for Gatlinburg is curvey but not twisty. Nice speeds can be had there. The rest of 441 past Gatlinburg looks like something from a video game. (Need for Speed) This runs past Clingman's Dome (which I believe is closed for road work.) The elevation is nice (around 5500 feet) and the back side has nice twists on the way to 28.

It's worth a shot. Since going home is on a Sunday, you may want to take your regular route which will avoid the tourists on the weekend.

Thanks, I'll take that under advisement and see what the other two think. We drove most of that route two years ago with Bryan and Justin leading the way on a Tuesday, just a "casual drive" - yeah right, with Bryan leading the way, lol! And it was scenic. the mileage is shorter but not sure about the actual time; then again why do we have to rush, we have the entire week! Some ZROC folks, at least a couple, will be looking to hook up with you on thursday - watch out for Chris Mad Dog Myers - he will be driving his 300 TT and his son will be in the 240Z. We don't call Chris "Mad Dog" for nuttin, lol! If you are reading this Chris, you know I am just pokin at ya,
