Question Detroit: Hotel recommendations for this weekend?

We just decided today about going to the Detroit Auto Show this Saturday and was wondering if anyone had any good hotel recommendations. The plan is the Auto Show during the day and probable go to Windsor that night.

THANKS!

I have not stay in any hotels in Detroit, since I am local. But searching thru http://www.hotels.com with the following criteria set:
City = Detroit
Near Landmark = Cobo Arena

It gave quite a few hotel suggestions. By staying in a hotel near by will save hassle of parking(although Cobo Roof Top parking is only $4.00).

The tunnel to Canada is very near Cobo Arena.

hit up the strip joints in windsor.. I would suggest staying in windsor if you're gonna go to the casino's. I was there a month ago, paid $50/ night for a room at the Hyatt or Hilton...forgot which one they had. But it's in downtown Windsor. Just do it via priceline and pick 3 star or 4 star hotel (whatever the highest star in windsor is), and submit a price of $50. I;m sure you'll get it.

If you want to be downtown, the best place right now is the Marriott in the RenCen. One of the nicest hotels, walking distance from Cobo. A few bars around.

A hotel in Windsor is also a great suggestion. Traffic through the tunnel and over the bridge has been very slow recently. Just a heads up.

Depends on what else you want to do while you're in town.

The atheneum is super nice, it's right in greektown. Also the Pontchartrain is directly accrost the street from Cobo and I hear its nice also. Thier are 2 clubs acrost the street from the pontchartrain; Envy and Panacea, If ya feel like going out. If your looking for a bar you can goto the Post, thats right accrost the street from Joe lewis area.

Thanks guys! We're going check out the downtown area of Winsor and Detroit and also greektown.

synth19 - I'll say Hi to them for you

The Envy, Panacea, and Post all sound pretty good. I'm taking all this info with me to make sure we don't miss out when looking for places to party.
