Raceway Park's First annual Z/G day!

So who on this thread actually raced their Z today at Etown? I mean, other than the winner/organizer of the event?
I do sort of think it's a weird situation for the ogranizer of the event to participate in the competition, but that's just my own viewpoint. That silver Z sounded mean, by the way. :-)
So what did people run today, and what are your mods?

I didn't get there until 3pm, and there were only a handful of 350Z's left, mostly the ones from MRC. Some hot chick showed up with a silver Skyline GT-R though, so I snapped a few pics of that before I left.
I only stayed about a half hour, it was dead.

OK... yeah, i thought that guy was with the sponsor, but I wasn't sure. Anyway, I agree with the previous post, its not his fault noboby could take him. Like I said before, if that 300Z running 10s showed up earlier, he would have won easily.
By the way, I was there from 9:30 till 2 pm, and I had a good time, so its all good. Ok, so technically I left the Z gathering around 1, but then I spotted the autocrossing going on at the other end of the parking lot, so I parked again and hung out there for a while. Only 2 Zs were running the autocross during the time I was watching and they weren't pushing their cars hard at all. Made me really want to jump in there and give it a go to try to stop the Miata folks from laughing at us
Gotta get me a helmet.

it was a good time, but have to admit..i could have done without all those other nissans and left it with just Zs. that place is pretty cool. i wanted to get on the carts. and how about that waterskiing. we should have rented out the whole place!!

I have been to a ton of mitsu events at etown that completely took over the place. So I guess I was dissapointed at the turnout, more as a sponsor. However it is the first one dedicated to nissan and infiniti and thanks to havier for allowing it to happen. It will probably get a better turn out next year and the year after that. The problem is that I didn't see many z's running and someone at the track made a comment about z people not being drag racers.
BUT I would like to say that given the small turnout I was able to get in tons of time trials and improved my completely stock Z time. When I say stock I mean bone stock. Who else raced Z's? And what were your mods and times?
As for the organizer of the event racing that is pretty much unheard of. Usually there will be exhibition runs only. Given the fact it was him and another guy I can understand it, why dissapoint the crowd? :-). And it was big of him to hand over the prize to the guy who ran against him. Just my two cents.

oh, couple of other things.
First, anyone know the winners from the show portion? I'll have to download my pics and show off the 280z that i picked to win.
also... there was a gentleman there who arived at 9:30, same as me, and he parked in the show area with an orange Z, who i talked briefly to. I commented on the nice wheels he had and we talked about colors and how i originally wanted the orange, but wound up with grey over orange and felt that, as a trade off for not getting my first color choice, at least i would now be a little less conspicuous for the cops. ANYWAY, I came back out a little later to take pics and that orange Z was no longer there ... i wanted to get a shot of those wheels so that I know what I want to get for my car when I have the $. SO, point of my story is... if that person reads this and remembers, please tell me about your wheels! Thanks!

LOL! I got in 13 or so suck **** runs. Heat was killing my times. The heat also put a damper on the event, but it wasn't bad. It was decent. Why are people so afraid to run their cars? But Jason had to run his Z in the event even if he was the sponsor. His car is nationally known. It was expected of him to compete. Well played regarding the prizes.

I have pics of the Skyline and a few of the Z's. Next time I will make sure to not go out and get loaded the night before so I can get up and get there early ;-) The Skyline was cool, I believe it was an R32.

I agree with afr0puff. For those who weren't too happy with the event, it was what it was, a drag strip and a show. If you were going just to see how many rides would show, well it wasn't advertised as such. Yes the weather probably put a damper on things but you can't control mother nature, go with the flow and make the best of it. Those who wanted a bigger turn out should of made sure you got your buds and there whips to go out with you.
It could of been worse...... rain
Those who wanted to stroll down the lanes it was like being a kid in a candy store. Do your run go back to the staging area and do it again with a minimal wait in line. You can't beat that with a stick and having slower times than you wanted or expected, you got an excuse. For those who ran the track it was a great day to practice your launchings and reaction times etc. Next time those ppl who did run their rides will have an advantage over the noobs to the track.
Afr0puff, you beat out Diesel with run slips He managed 11 runs.
As a spectator saturday I got out of it what I expected and it was great seeing some faces I haven't seen in awhile ( a long while ) and meeting new ones too.
Myself and two of my boys took vids on the track. Hopefully we'll get some of it hoisted later in the week. If anyone has still pics they want hoisted pls drop me a private message, I'll get 'em up for ya.
I'm down for next year.

I was disapopinted in the turnout too, but lets not forget about the guys from MRC esp. Julian who busted his BUTT to get this event together. If you want to see a bigger event lets all go to the Tuner Fest in Wildwood.

I had fun, I was pissed that I couldn't break into the 13's but I def. wasnt expecting to go home with a trophy for my 14.1 second pass haha. Thanks Jason and all the other MRC people for organizing etc.

Big thanks to Julian, and also Paul and Peter of the NJ Z Club. They all did a great job of organizing this event! It was fun to see so many old Z friends and meet some new ones. There were some beautiful Z's there!

I don't think it was that bad. The only bad thing was the heat but i'm used to the heat. Anyways Big shot out to ALL the guys at MRC, NJ Z CLUB, and E-Town for putting it together. And like Dan said before if you want a big turn out then get all your z's out to Tuner fest.
