I got this e-mail from a co-worker today, who supposedly got it from his mother who works for the State of PA, Department of Transportation.
I find it hard to believe, in a way, and figure it for a hoax, but I can't take a chance considering I'm driving on only an Occupational License right now after accruing 13 points on my license in the past 18 months.
Take it for what you will...

Pennsylvania State Police will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy
throughout the state starting February 1, 2006. The State estimates that
22 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 3 million will go to
pay Trooper overtime costs and benefits. There will be 150 State
Troopers on duty during all shifts patrolling the highways. Significant radar
enforcement will occur along the I-70, I-76, I-79, I-80, I-81, I-83, I-84,
and I-90 corridors.
Motorists traveling 6 mph or more above the limit will receive a ticket
and every State Trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket
every10 minutes.
Pennsylvania has activated 50 new unmarked cruisers of various makes and
models for this pilot program to raise extra funds and meet mandated
quotas. The Pennsylvania State Legislators dreamed up this program to help
offset the additional funding required to hire 60 new Troopers.
I was told KDKA TV and Radio stations confirmed this. So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on you.
You've been warned.

Yeah, I've seen it somewhere before which is why I am skeptical...
I didn't see anyone pulled over on the way to work today and I travel I83 for ~50 miles. Hard to believe if they are pulling a car over every 10 mins...

In retrospect, a lot of people were travelling slower than normal this morning. I was flying by people at 75 (in a 65).
Except for 1) the douche in his riced VR6 Golf that tried to get me to race and took off at 85-110 after I didn't bite, and 2) a last gen Mustang GT (probably modded) with WIDE rear tires (275-295s AT LEAST). When I got on his a$$ he took off like a rocket and I never even attempted to catch him either. I never even tried to race him, I guess he felt threatened by my sexier car.

I've noticed a direct correlation to warmer weather meaning more speed cops on the road. They don't want to be cold or wet any more than anyone else I guess. It's been in the 60s off and on this week and the police have been out in force stopping people. Just a few weeks back when it was cold and rainy, no one could be found.
