Default Nice area to live near McGuire A.F.B, NJ?

I know nothing about the Northeast so i need some help finding a nice area to live near McGuire A.F.B. i really don't want to be farther than 30 miles from the base. If anyone on here knows the area well, please give me some advice. i will be moving there in september so i have plenty of time to look for a place. looking for a place/area that is safe, quiet with decent priced homes for the size and location. thanks in advance.

I lived in that area for 20 years unfortunatley (Browns Mills) and i can tell you right now to scratch everyone one of those locations off your list ha. The only sort of OK one is Toms River although it gets busy during the summer.

You might want to look into Medford, Medford Lakes, Tabernacle, Shamong, Marlton, Evesham, Moorestown, Mt Laurel, Springfield, Mansfield.

Moorestown was voted the #1 town in the country to live

Cherry Hill is a good place to live. Low crime. But property value is high. Sometimes main roads can become clogged with traffic. Moorestown I believe is 2 town up from Cherry Hill

Def. scratch all of them off your list. My parents live in medford. Its a great town, with the town of medford lakes right next to it. Very pretty houses/log cabins. Nice lakes. Unfortunately its expensive to live there. Taxes are high and houses are high priced. The town is well off with higher end cars/properties. Same thing goes for moorestown. Very nice area but very expensive. Moorestown is a little more historic too, lots of old victorian houses. I would look into Tabernacle or Indian Mills. Indian Mills has cheaper taxes and is right next to medford. The area is nice and the houses are just as nice/big as medford but its cheaper to live there. The school system is real good too. In my opinion, Indian mills is becoming like medford and seems like in 10 years property value will be much higher so you will get a nice return on your investment. Cherry hill has some nice area's but is closer to the city of philadelphia and traffic is horrible. Lumberton is ok, not the nicest. In indian mills(shamong) or tabernacle you are 30 min from philadelphia, and 40 minutes from Long beach Island or within an hour from the beach resorts. Toms river and brick are ok, but get very congested in the summer and full of NY idiots that are coming down to visit our beaches lol. Check out indian mills/tabernacle/medford.....i don't think you'll be disappointed.

i have been stationed at mcguire for the past 19 years, and have lived in NJ forever, bricktown and toms river and jackson township are great

you should get something in ocean/monmouth county if you can afford it, most of the areas in burlington are total crap, too rural, to criminal or overpriced be cause they are a island of goodness surrounded by crap.

Camden, near cherry hill, it rated the most dangerous city in the U.S., while ocean and monmouth counties have two of the top ten places to live in the U.S.

are schools a factor? are you looking to buy or rent? what will your BAH be? and what squadron will you be joining while you are at it?

I am interested in buying if at all possible. I might have to rent when i first get there. i would rather room but since i don't know anybody there, it is unlikely, at least right away. my BAH will be $1108. i will be assigned to the 305 CS. i will be a VI troop soon!

i really like the what i have read about Brick Township and Toms River. i am also interested in looking into Indian Mills. Schools are not a factor. i don't mind the city/town being rural just as long as it is safe. i will travel a lot so i plan on getting a beater and leave my Z for nice weekends and shows.

thanks for all the input everyone! so can 200k to 330k get a decent house in the areas listed above? this will be my first purchased home and i am single so i am not looking for THE home, just a home. Once i settle in and meet some respectable and responsible people, i will get a room mate or two.

i start tech school on 23 May so i might show up to Maryland on @19-22 of May. the very first chance i get to travel to NJ from MD i will take. so i would assume early June sometime, on a weekend of course. after techshool, my RNLTD to McGuire is 10 Oct.

what is the house market in Bricktown like? is it expensive or somewhat affordable?

thanks in advance

It's affordable, but I think you would be better off in Manchester, you can get more for your money there.
