Hey David, I'll see you there. I've been trying to get some folks from work to roll in to the Cecil Drags for a while now. The 23rd was my second attempt and it looks like a few other will join. What does a stock Z run? Will I need to bring my helmet? Thanks, Rich

 

I'll try to make it. I have a Blue Z.

 

I don't know what your car runs, but I advise a helmet. Officials will usually cut you some slack on Friday night, but you never know. I hate to see you run 13.99 seconds, then be told that you cannot run again unless you have a helmet.

This was my first Friday night and I did not know what to expect. First, racing after sundown is much more comfortable than in the heat of the day. I like grudge racing, but it is very difficult to pick the car that you want to race. The turnout was excellent, and I was surprised with the number of spectators. Halfway through the evening there was a breakdown in the right lane, and it was shut permanently. That made the turnaround time long, and frankly, it isn't much fun racing yourself.

Still three 350Zs showed so it was a good night. Maybe next time some of you all will show and race with me.

 

David, Sorry I didn't stick around longer, but I had another commitment that night. I showed up at about 5:10 or so and had to wait about half an hour until they teched the cars and opened the drapstrip. There were only about 8 - 10 cars there the first half hour and I was able to get 4 runs in back to back. My best was about 14.61 after I remembered to turn the DSC off.

It was pretty easy to pick who you wanted to run against very early because there were so few cars there. It really did get crowded after about 7:15 or so. Rich

 

Let Me Know When Some People Are Getting Together At Cecil Dragway, Wed. Nights Are Usually Soooo Much Better, No Dodge Omni's Or Ford Broncos Breaking Down. Smaller Lines And People That Are A Little More Serious About Racing. You Can Generally Get 4 To 6 Passes In And Its Still $10 To Watch $12 To Run.
