Hey Ken,
As you know I recently sold my ATI procharger, if not I would be happy to give you a ride.
The ATI procharger does get noisy when idling, however, it gives off a nice jet like whine when cruising. Great compressor design, self lubricating with proprietary lubricant costing $17/1.something of an ounce - one oil change. The cons are belt/pulley tracking system, cog belt slippage a common issue, which accelerates wear & tear. Hoses/pipes require cutting into the wheel well covers and sometimes a slight lip on the frame may require cutting.
The other problems that I had with the procharger were blown head gaskets; I had that happen to me 3 times. One bad fuel management unit, which ATI replaced. The blown head gasket, I don't believe that it was entirely the fault of the supercharger, but more a weakness with the VQ35DE.
The Vortech, has a more superior belt tracking/tensioner system; however, the Vortech system requires tapping into the block for lubrication.
I am not certain if the Vortech comes polished, but the ATI procharger gives you that added option.
The superchargers are convenient, should you wish to remove all trace of FI system at some point in time.
Superchargers tend to be strong in terms of whp but produces lower torque in comparison to turbos.
What is it that you want to do and what are your objectives?
