No one has the rights to federally legalize a skyline in the US. You can get them State legal depending on how you bring them over.

The R33 is the only Skyline that can be legally imported/legalized now. The US gov't will not legalize the R32 or R34 anymore.

I believe the definition of a "kit" car is that the car can only contain X% of factory parts and/or cannot be a production car.

If the R34 that you are thinking of purchasing was not brought into the country legally, you cannot "make it legal" even if it's already here. It must be brought into the country according to DOT/NHTSA/Customs guidelines.

If it is a screaming deal and the current owner has all the paperwork intact and the car has never been in the DMV system, you could export it Japan and bring it in properly. I can help with this.

Of course there's alway a "guy who knows a guy at DMV" who can get it into the system. Unfortunately, there's always that risk of getting it siezed. I cannot help you in this manner.

It's an expensive process and the car will only be 49 state legal. So hopefully your not in cali.

Good luck with it. Let's see the car. I probably know about it.

That's what I originally believed also. We were both wrong. That is not the definition of a kit car, but the information is out there. Just start doing the footwork. It's like going to the library via google. Kit cars also have to meet certain DOT/NHTSA criteria also.

Dealers don't do that. That is called fraud. Dealers loose their licence and get punished for fraud. If there is a company in the Chicago area that is doing that, they're not a dealer. They're a hustler.

The sad thing about doing it that way is the insurance pay out for a 91 accord is like $500.00. That sucks. When you get stopped by a cop in the "know", your fcuked.. . bye bye skyline hello fines and crush fees.
