Some members say they ask about taking a safety course in lieu of receiving a fine. It may work.

I duno about other states, but in NJ you can plead guilty to "unsafe operation" --- a 0 point ticket. So basically you pay a fine in addition to the ticket you received but you get to drop the pts for the ticket. Pay the courts or pay insurance, its your choice.

20 over, and it wasn't on a highway... I don't think he will have success in court.

Its worth a shot to ask. I got nailed for a 42 in a 25... not as bad but it was almost 20 over.

It's not a court issue. If the system is similar to NJ and it most likely is, appear, plead not guilty and speak to the prosecutor. It gets pled down to a lesser offense as a matter of course. No one wants to hear yours or any other traffic offense case in court. They will down grade and collect court fees to the township. Its a win, win concidering the circumstances.

when i went to court, most people with speeding ticket pleaded guilty and the prosecutor just game them "unsafe operation". I think its a $400 ticket or something.

Not sure if it the "unsafe operation" surcharge is the same from one township to the next. But mine was about $250, not 100% sure (i try to forget that day as much as i can).

Contact the officer and ask to be written to avoid points, explain that you got off work late or you were out doing something besides racing and the officer might cut you a break. Don't argue about how far you were from your house, just ask for a little leniency. Usually an apology and a request for a break go pretty far when you toss in a sob story

Just contest the ticket in court. Chances are the judge will change the ticket to 5mph over, you still pay a fine, but no points.

what pisses me off most about this is that i was just driving, not trying to do anything.. it was late and i was just trying to get home... it was one of those stupid speed trap setups right before my road i live on.. its one of those they shouldnt be allowed to do, where they set up at the bottom of a big hill where the speed limit changes from 45 at the top to 35 at the bottom.. so you know i was doing 50 at the top which anyone would do in a 45, and sped up with gravity while i went down the hill where i was clocked at 55 in the dang 35... thats just ghey... so ghey...

On a side note: are you the black Z that is always parked on 202 with the american flag pole thingy on the window?
