Default NJ caravan to Conn meet July 12th

I am starting to arrange a meeting place and caravan from central Jersey to Conn for the great meet.... I am aiming for the rest area on the NJ Turnpike right after exit 11. This is also where you pickup the turnpike from the GS Parkway.. PRobably shooting for around 7am. Lime rock should be roughly a 2.5 hour drive from there... I will update and get exact mile marker and time as the date grows near... We could also stop at a rest area farther north to meet up with the North Jersey people.... Let me know...

That's a great idea, if youi decide to stop anywhere further up north I'll be there. I don't know of anyone else at the moment from north jersey going, but let me know what you decide and I'll be there.

Jill, you're right that is early, especially since it's going to take you central jersey people a while to make it up to NY to meet up by 8:30

Please pray it doesn't rain.. this weather is getting ridiculous

And I'm not even in Central Jersey - I'm about 50-60 miles south of that

The weather is ridiculous? Wow, I'm in Arizona and it's gorgeous here

eMan (Ethan) has contacted me about Walkie Talkies (FRSs ) and assignment of frequencies for the MA/NH caravan, as a means of communicating with each other. Since he has a clue what he is doing and I don't, I asked him to set up some assignments for each Caravan as well as one for CT people and one for anyone else that is coming to the meet from out of state (ie Canada, PA, FL, etc). Everyone should be able to access each assignment but I thought breaking them down a little might help the "traffic" on them. Here they are:

MA/NH Caravan: Channel 6, Code 17 (462.6875 MHz - 118.8 Hz)
NY Caravan: Channel 5, Code 21 (462.6625 MHz- 136.5 Hz)
NJ Caravan: Channel 7, Code 24 (462.7125 MHz - 151.4 Hz)
CT People: Channel 8, Code 27 (467.5625 MHz - 167.9 Hz)
Other (ie FL, PA, Canada, etc): Channel 4, Code 13 (462.6375 MHz - 103.5 Hz)

Pretty much any FRSs should work as long as it's a Motorola based design. You can pick them up pretty cheap (~$25 for a pair) and the range should be good for ~2 miles in a straight line. BTW I will be posting this same info in each thread so that everyone has the same information. I hope this helps.

Default !!! Major LOCATION Change to July 12th CT Meet - Everyone coming PLEASE READ!!!

Due to the large number of attendees, we've had to change the location for the morning meet. It will NOT be at Hubbard Park in Meriden.

The new location is:
Park & Ride Lot
Industrial Park Road
Middletown, Connecticut

The parking lot at Hubbard Park in Meriden could only hold about 100 cars and we may top this. This would have created major havoc. This new location will hold up to 250 cars!

This new location is not too far from Meriden so it should not affect the travel time for people coming. Direction is as follows:

From ROUTE 91 NORTH
Take Exit 21 (Route 372 Cromwell/Berlin Exit)
Turn right at light
At next light (Super 8 on left) turn left
The lot will be about 1/4 mile on left just after the McDonald's

From ROUTE 91 SOUTH
Take Exit 21 (Route 372 Cromwell/Berlin Exit)
Go straight past light
The lot will be about 1/4 mile on left just after the McDonald's

I apologize for this last minute change but it was a MUST to ensure a more comfortable atmosphere.

Please spread the word to anyone you may know that is planning to come.

Because we do expect some stragglers to still go to Hubbard Park, we will have someone there to re-direct them to the new location.

Thanks for your understanding.

Default Update

I will probably be heading up alot earlier since I will be bringing some parts to display and sell. I will probably be leaving in the wee hours around 5:30 ( I'm crazy) Its a good 2.5-3 hour drive from me. I think that if you all meet at 6:30-6:45ish, then you'll be there around 9:30 or so. If anyone is as crazy as me and wants to leave that early or race me up with the new plenum and my friend in his fast wrx, then let me know.
Good Luck and drive safe!!! See you there.

I will be heading up earlier but I believe some people will still meet there. I suggest meeting around 6:30 or so. Hopefully people will rrespond so you get a decent cruise up. If you want to follow me EARLY (5:30) then let me know. I'll be getting on the turnpike at exit 9. I am going early to set up a display of parts for sale!

Just remember also there's the option of Fort Totten in Queens (they will be meeting at 7:15 AM and leaving at 7:45 AM) and/or the rest stop at Exit 22 on Route 95 North in Connecticut (they will start at 8:00 AM and wait for NJ/NY members and leave at 8:30 AM).

See you Saturday.
