Default New England /New York Roads - Z Friendly?

I have a little road trip coming up on Friday and I am debating whether to take the Z or the girlfriend's Civic. I rarely get a chance to get the Z on a long trip and stretch its legs a bit, and I think I'm willing to take a few rock chips to be in my car rather than the Civic. Anyway I'll be leaving from Philly suburbs on Friday and driving to Burlington, VT, then on Sunday going from VT to Boston, then Monday returning home from Boston. I wanted to get some feedback from guys up farther north about how the roads are, and if it's even worthwhile to take the Z. Here are the roads I plan to take, feel free to chime in. I've driven most of them, for some length, before but not in the Z so I wasn't paying attention to the road surface:

PA to VT:
- Rte. 78 from Easton PA thru Jersey to Rte. 287
- Rte. 287 to Int. 87 North thru NY
- 87 North to various back roads to get into VT

VT to Boston:
- probably 89 South to 93 into Boston
- 93 to 90 West, to Rte 9. to get to Brookline

Boston to Home:
- 90 West to 84 South
- 84 South to 684 South
- 684 South to 287/87 West crossing the Tappan Zee Bridge
- 287 to 78 and back into PA

So given my 19" wheels and lowered suspension do you guys think any of these roads would make for an unpleasant ride? Any major roadwork going on that I should be aware of? Thanks!

Take the 350. You go to New York with a Civic, don't expect to drive back.

The roads in MA suck. 93 North of Boston isn't too bad. Once you're South of the city I seem to remember it being a little rough. Nothing my Z hasn't been able to handle though.

Either you won't have a car or the rims and stereo will be for sale the next day down at the docks.

Civics are the most stolen car cause there are so damn many of them. I wouldnt feel too safe with a Z either.

Youll be fine driving though. I live in Manhattan and just remember to be cautious/take your time.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'm still torn on the issue. I know the instant I hit a big pothole or hear the front end of my car getting sand blasted by road grit I'll be wishing we had taken the Civic.

By the way, who said I was going to new york city?

Reading owns all of you : )

LOL yeah I know, I'm talkin about the guys saying that our Civic will get stripped and parted out in the city.

If the crooks can strip my stereo out while I'm cruising 50 miles outside the city at 80 mph, they can have it!

Who said it was a crook? They're called police officers.

I had to re-read your post like 10 times to make sure I wasn't going crazy. I knew the replies didn't make sense. Anyways, the highways you'll be traveling on are perfectly smooth so I wouldn't worry about bottoming out or getting a flat tire. You'll be driving through highways that aren't exactly within NYC.

I should edit.

You will be fine, IF YOU STAY OFF THE CROSS BRONX.

That is the worst highway known to man kind. Avoid it. Cross Bronx / I95 through NYC FTL. GW bridge with it.

Not true. I guess since Ive driven on it so long I know where the bad parts are. Staten Island roads are ABSOLUTELY the worst.
