350Z Dyno Day @ Altered Atmosphere August 23rd!
Altered Atmosphere Motorsports will be hosting a Nissan 350Z dyno day on Saturday August 23rd, 2003 10AM – 2PM at our Gaithersburg, MD facilities! All 350z owners and friends are welcome. Come out for a day of fun and excitement and test your 350z to see what kind of power you can put down. Also, Mike Mahaffey will have his ATI supercharged 350z on display for everyone to check out!
Dyno pricing is as follows:
- $40 for 2 dyno pulls.
- $50 for 2 dyno pulls with air/fuel ratio metering.
(The Air/Fuel ratio is a very important tool that lets you know whether you are running lean or rich. It gives you an idea of how much an ECU upgrade or fuel controller like the A’Pexi S-AFC II will improve the performance of your Z.)
We have 10 slots available and will be taking people on a first come, first serve basis. Email me at spencers@alteredatmosphere.com or call me at 301-330-8835 to reserve your slot on the dyno! Hurry, the list will fill quickly!
Even if you don’t want to dyno, come out and enjoy a fun day of hanging out and talking Zs with fellow 350z owners. It will be a great chance to meet some new people and enjoy the company of others who share your passion!
We will also be offering great specials on upgrades for your 350z such as intakes and fuel controllers. And we’ll have specials on services such as plenum polishing!
Following the dyno sessions, we will be taking a cruise to Sugarloaf Mountain. There is plenty of twisty roads and beautiful scenery to take in! It will be a great time to enjoy the thrills of driving your 350z as well as caravanning with others! Make sure to bring your camera and video camera!

Yes, the cruise will start around 2 o'clock. That's about the time the dynoiing should be wrapping up. The cruise will probably last a couple hours, leaving plenty of time for dinner or DC/Baltimore outings
By my count, 12 Zs showed up, plus Edretti in his G35. And Mike, who works at Altered Atmospheres, had his supercharged DB there, too.
Commasense, James (me), LS Track
DaddyKool, Tom, BY Touring
Daewoo, John, SB
Drew703, Drew, DB Perf
Flynnibus, Steve, DB Touring
Gaseous, Thai, BY
Joebva, Joe, RL
Mike@Altered, Mike, SB, (supercharged)
MilleMe, Steve, DB Track
PA_Z, Rich, PPW
Ravaz , Bill, SB
???, LS
???, Jess, ???
Edretti, Ed G35
I think that's almost everyone, but I've forgotten a name or two.
About half the people who showed got dynoed. Almost everyone with a stock MT came in right around 232 hp, including me. The one AT was about 225. And one relatively young (3,000 miles) MT pulled only 222, but I'll spare him the embarrassment of identifying him.
Ravaz came up all the way from North Carolina to leave his SB with Altered Atmospheres to install a Procharger. He already had an Injen exhaust, and he pulled about 239, but said on another dyno he'd gotten 250.
Of course, with a Procharger (and a whole lot of other stuff) already installed, Mike@Altered topped the HP list with 360. What a sound that thing makes! Yours for only about $6,200. (Don't forget to get better brakes!)
Interestingly, no CS or SS showed up.
The company was enjoyable, the weather was not too warm, AA served a nice chicken lunch, it was cool to see some of the performance mods AA offers. (The TEIN flex suspension looks really neat, especially with the remote control system.) All in all a very pleasant day.
Here are a few of my shots. When I arrived around 11 am, six Zs (including Mike's) and the G35 were there:
