I'll do the spotting on this run. I'll go out a few miles in advance with a codriver (Ray?) and scan for traps and whatnot. I don't want to see anyone get nabbed.

What I imagine a good game plan would be is before each stage I'll leave a few minutes beforehand and cruise the roads for any police or anything that could put anyone in danger.

2. I want to say the best group in our last run, new entrants would be cool but concerns of unknown, unexperienced drivers (On this course). Many of the regulars have a few years and multiple event experience.
Not to sound like a douche, but from the pictures I have seen, these roads did not look any harder to drive then the Kanc, which is pretty open. I would be more concerned about show offs/idiots who would ruin it for everyone else.

3. Timing - We should leave even earlier to cover more miles prior to the early birds.
Guess it depends on how far away people are coming and how long it takes to get there. If you are meeting in western mass, and leaving at 7 I would have to leave my house around 4am to get there ontime.

4. Navagator/Communication Person Requirement: Should this be required?
Yuo talking everyone has co-pilots?
5. Route Spotters
It is a good idea. Also good course planning can help out a lot here as well. If the vets know where they are going and what is on the roads, it becomes less necessary. Mostly a popo spotter.

6. Better Comm Systems - CB Style Handhelds
You talking the cheap motorola two ways? Or something more exspensive/advanced. I have a set of 18mile two ways.

7. PD Scanner
While it is a good thought, it is probably not going to work as planned.

8. Secondary Group (Split by overall entrants. Long Range Comms a Must)
I have been in a few cruises with around 85-100 cars, these tend to naturally break into groups depending on personal speed limits. If there is a well prepared course, and a sprinkling of GPS cars it should work itself out. I do recommend lining people up in terms of how fast they want to go. That way people who want to risk it, do not get caught behind someone who is cautious. It also eliminates the passing that you mentioned.

Some Ideas:

1. Japanese Steak House

2. BBQ - Volunteer house or rent a pavalion somewhere in the middle for everyone. Or as close to "Center", a'la Jonny NO NO, as possible.

3. Open to suggestion for idea

I have no doubt that you could drive these roads seen in the pics, this isn't the dragon or the ring, they are normal roads. The previous one to this just past had some pretty twisty stuff but nothing I bet a novice could not drive. I think Adrian's concern point had to do with the speed we travel, most of the intense driving is spent well over 100 mph, I know there was a few spots where we spent a decent amount of time on the last open run running 130+mph, and mind you some of the speed limits are 35-40mph. A few of us hit 145 at one point That is where I think Adrian's concern lies because if you are not comfortable with those speeds you will either need to be in the back of the group and catch up or you will need a separate group. We haven't had a problem with the system yet, it works well and those that want to go faster do so and there are others that hang back and catch up. Nobody shows off, we have a great group that goes on these, and we are pretty organized and coordinated. He is just concerned with newcomers who aren't used to things and safe driving is not having people push their limits and he just wants everyone to know that and make sure everything is set before we go.

My concern as Matt said is that everyone is safe. Hence why we head to rural areas and the pace is set. Some may or may not have the skillset to keep pace, and would perfer to be placed at the rear. This isnt the Kanc, and going forward anyone new, whom is welcomed to attend, will be at the rear. There is going to be a system that is going to be announced soon that will track entrants going forward. This system will track event attendance, and skills observed which will place you in line accordingly. We have used this general practice in the past and has been successful. Now it is just going to be official.
