Default September Mountain Run

September Road Rally

Date: September 12, 2009

Location: Undisclosed departure location to an undisclosed place in the New England Area. Entrants will be notified privately

Caravan Locations (Actual locations to be finalized by the end of the month):

Boston, MA
Framingham, MA
Charlton, MA
Strubridge, MA
Manchester, CT
Berlin, CT
New Haven, CT
Stamford, CT
New York, NY
New Jersey <~~ Not sure where

With the success of our latest run, I felt another should be had sooner, rather then later. Was a great time, and the final section was by far the best piece of driving I have ever seen on these runs thus far.

I would like to open this up to a larger group, include more types of Performance Cars, and have a good time on some winding back roads, but...

Here are my concerns, and feedback thoughts:

1. Who is going to lead this time lol
2. I want to say the best group in our last run, new entrants would be cool but concerns of unknown, unexperienced drivers (On this course). Many of the regulars have a few years and multiple event experience.
3. Timing - We should leave even earlier to cover more miles prior to the early birds.
4. Navagator/Communication Person Requirement: Should this be required?
5. Route Spotters
6. Better Comm Systems - CB Style Handhelds
7. PD Scanner
8. Secondary Group (Split by overall entrants. Long Range Comms a Must)

I would like some feedback on the following please:

1. Route: Stratton Route, Chick Route (The latest one), Chick Route + Last Section of the May Run when OMEGA46 Lead , or a completely new one?
2. Thoughts on the pace
3. I know 6:30AM was early, but do you feel would should have made it earlier since we did get stuck behind a lot of cars throughout the morning? I would leave before the sun rose if it ment a better overall rally.

Things to keep in mind, and to bring with you:

1. Safety First
2. Walkie Talkie *** REQUIRED ***(FRS Style) Route doesnt have cell service most times. Fairly cheap to purchase, split the cost with a friend. I could even arrange a Group Buy possibly. (Great Job on this one, we all had one, and some spares)
3. NO PASSING <~~ Well controlled by leaders, and great help by overall group regarding safety
4. NO BLOCKING
5. STAY in your assigned Position/Group (This a requirement going forward. More info to come)
6. Navigator to read out directions/turns
7. There will be no stoping and waiting, we will have set up locations to meet/catch up and refuel if needed
8. Radar/Laser Detectors
9. We will be stopping to grab lunch and take pics (Bring your cams!!!)

Those who have been on the Mtn Runs of past years know how much fun it is, but please ensure your car is well prepped to be a part of this event.

Car Focal Points:

Stock Brakes - They will take a beating. Make sure they are good to go
Tires - Please ensure they are in good condition to take a beating
Oil & Fluids - Please top off and get an Oil Change!

Looking forward to seeing everyone's input, ideas, and feedback to make this and all future Rallies most successful

August Drivers Dinner or BBQ

Would like to get everyone together for a "Drivers Dinner or BBQ" to meet up, eat and hang out. We goto the rallies, say Hi, Drive "Sprited", grab a quick lunch and head our seperate ways. Think it would be cool to do this.

Some Ideas:

1. Japanese Steak House

2. BBQ - Volunteer house or rent a pavalion somewhere in the middle for everyone. Or as close to "Center", a'la Jonny NO NO, as possible.

3. Open to suggestion for idea

I don't know how I got nominated
I think I may have done my share for the team this year with the 350.00 ticket

We'll see what my mood is going to be by then.

Plus I should be all purdy before then. I'm not sure if I'll like all the rocks that Matt keeps throwing at me...

So are you just doing it over or are there some changes?

Can I get away with just saying that it is a work in progress ?

I haven't really solidified my plan yet.
We are tossing around some ideas that are outside of my original 2-tone scheme, but at this point it will most likely come out 2-tone, top and bottom.

Did I tell you guys that Steve had put the canards on the wrong sides?
I can't wait till he comes home so I can give him some good ole beat down

Haha what can I say I like the multi-car view from the center of the road With all that work being done just clear-bra it! You can buy rolls of the original 3M material for like $100-200 depending on how much you want to cover. Definitely gonna do mine if I ever get my front fixed.

Yeah, we can never seem to leave before 7:30 lol, less cops too

5. Route Spotters
Definite yes, would be very beneficial both for speed traps and mobile 5-0

6. Better Comm Systems - CB Style Handhelds
$$$$ ?

7. PD Scanner
I doubt that it would help, they don't usually discuss location without incident and we would have to have a very lucky stroke of timing to catch something like that and have it be effective.

Route:
Up in the back road boonies gives us much better cover if our main concern is police, which I assume it is because people are debating on not going over it and nobody wants a $350 ticket. The route we just took was a lot of fun but it was very very open and we are exposed to many hiding spots, and anyone who is passing by and just wants to call us in for opening it up on these pretty main roads. Maybe a combo of both?

Adrian, do you mind if i post this up on newenglandrally.com?

That is the 1500 mile rally i did this past weekend. Some great people. All we did was "enjoy" the back roads of Maine, NH, and VT for 26 hours

A couple local people might be up for it, some of the others were from out of state.

PS....Getting back on the video this week. Sorry for the delay.

lol Yes, everyone that was placed on the list must attend, or the following will result:

1. You will be beaten
2. You will watch your wheels be taken and replaced with the 17s from Rays car (Ray will be down graded to 16's for still having 17s lol)
3. You will have to drive as the last car in the pack at the next rally
4. Lunch you will sit by yourself as we throw popcorn or straw wrappers at you
5. I will find Jonny NO NO to be your Co-Pilot, or the guy with those shorts from the McD's parking lot

That would be great if you stole my 17's. My car is a Touring and it should have 18's on it .

Anyone want to let me tag along with them? I really don't want to try my luck so soon
