NY/NJ/CT INDOOR Track Meet - Anyone Interested?
What's up, Z and G owners?? I'm at a stage where I want to start taking my Z33 to meets and get track time and everything, but in our area the season's basically over.
I found out about an indoor racing facility called Grand Prix New York, and it is literally amazing. have any of you been there/heard about it? They run Sodi Karts, which kick our cars' asses through the turns. They have two tracks, each with a different layout. Not to mention a full bar for post-race festivities.
I plan on making my rounds there regularly this fall and winter while the Z hibernates, but was thinking before it gets too cold it'd be cool to get some VQ owners up there for a meet and race. Z, G, Max, Alt, Xterra, anyone – Who's in?!?
I live in southern Fairfield county and the drive is only like 30-45 mins, nothing...post here or PM me and let's get this going!

Yeah, they're not like the normal go karts with the fake fiberglass replica-racecar bodies.
They say they go up to 40 mph and I'd say that feels about right since you're so close to the ground. I attached a pic from their website so you can see the kart setup- www.gpny.com - if you want more info like track layout and stuff.
I raced once this week and am completely hooked...and I like that there's no stress on the Z!

Google Maps is saying 35 miles or so. I made the drive to that area last night after racing and made it home in like 50 mins because of that stupid Merritt Parkway tree removal traffic at 11:00PM.
Sweet, their website is [www.gpny.com].
Basically, the arrive and drive cost is like $25. You get i think 12 minutes on the track ~ 15 laps. I got an annual membership for $35 (one-time fee), so now each race costs $20 on weekends, $18 on weekdays. After that, the more you do, the cheaper it gets, they want you to keep racing.
They also do 3- and 6-hour endurance races, so if we got a group of like 5 Z guys together, we could enter as a team for like less than $100 each and compete against other teams for the day – never done one but I really want to and my co-workers aren't into it as much.
That's a nice trip, does the ferry take long? Bring friends and make it a day or something!
EDIT: I called and they can make arrangements for us based on the group we come up with...open bar of some sort, special racing heats, extended race time, etc.
Anyone else - can we firm up a day/time for a Z meet??

i never been there.. but i heard is really good place to hang.. but they charge like 40 or 35 bux a head... kinda pricey thro.. and is like 7-10 min run on the track..if u get enough ppls going.. i think u can get a group ticket...
doug I tried to setup that up last year and the turnout was terrible and I cancelled it. I have no idea why people weren't down, that would be so much fun with quite a few car enthusiasts racing legit carts.
i went there with my boys once.. but after doing the cart track in windsor ct.. at 6'3 260lbs with size 14/15 shoes its not very comfortable.. these carts at wallingford looked about simular dimensions.. so i opted to watch.. they looked like they had fun though.. all my friends are under 6ft .. and the only one my height is 150lbs.. however the carts on the lower half of Berlin Turnpike across from the Mini Golf Course were comfortable.. the carts wern't as fast.. but i fit well in those

I have been looking for something like this for a while, and u definitely caught my attention, but it is nearly 2 hours of a ride.. I don't know.. i think it might be worth it.. it has been nearly 6-7 years, and i miss it bad..
