In PA, there is route 209 which goes through a large state park. Really nice smooth roads, very few cars and nice turns and straightaways.

Anyone else find something good this summer?

1. Name: Rt. 28 > Rt. 30 > Rt. 3 > Rt. 86
2. Location: Old Forge > Blue Mountain Lake > Tupper Lake > Saranac Lake > Lake Placid, NY
3. Mostly tight sweepers and some straightaways, no real hairpins, good change in elevation.
4. Aggressiveness: Depends on speed. intermediate avg
5. Condition: varies
6. Traffic: Depends on time of day and season. Can have campers.

It's about 2 hours one way.

+1 On these spots! If you manage to make it all the way to Saranace lake VIA rte 3 and are headed back the other way, go towards Lake Placid VIA rte 86 then take rt73 all the way through Keene Valley. Great spirited driving and You will eventually make it back to 87 south (the main connection to civilization)....or continue on to rt9 and take the long and curvy way down towards Albany. Just be aware of the speed limit changes on 73 through lower Keene....the locals will be watching!

bumping this thread, i've got a nice road to drive on i'll try to describe it the best i can.

east street, in stafford springs, CT. Taking east street (east)
wales road, wales, mass.
stafford road, wales, mass.
monson road, wales, mass.

it eventually goes into mass, great driving roads, smooth, some curves, not very curvy though. a lot of roads go past lakes, pretty scenic. you can still see tornado damage from the tornado that went through there last year.

the road is NOT very long, but i'm sure you could continue driving north. the only way i know how to get there is through rough back roads through ellington and somers. there are some off roads to turn on to, but stick to the MAIN road.

the next time i go up there i'll try and take some pictures and post them.
