Hey guys,
I called a couple shops this morning looking to get my test pipes put on but no luck. Shop 1 said they don't do it because its illegal. Shop 2 had never heard of them and shop 3 said "$1200" and then I said I have my own parts I'm just looking for labor costs, and they said "thats like bringing meat to a McDonald's and asking them to cook it up for you". I don't even know how to respond to that. Does anyone know of a place near here that can do the swap from my cats to test pipes?

 

I had to go to Lou's exhaust in Lawrence,ma.. The other shops will not remove factory cats unless it is faulty.

Lawrence would be about 50min drive I think. Amherst is out there.

 

p.s. only cost me 150.00 for removal and install of HFC's

 

Yeah I'm in the middle of nowhere. Do you remember what they charged there? Because if its alot, I'll just wait until the weather warms up and change them myself

Got jack stands? Test pipes are pretty easy to install. Like rich said, it is illegal for a mechanic to take cats out and install test pipes. They face a $50,000 fine from the EPA. BIG MONEY. I wouldn't put anyone at risk and do it myself.

 

Yeah I'm familiar with it I think the cold weather is just deterring me haha. Maybe I'll just man up and do it

I never ended up getting Berks. I was looking for some resonated pipes and some guy on here actually traded me some Edge Racing resonated pipes for my OEM shift ****. It was just sitting on the floor in my room anyway so I figured I'd give these a shot since they were free haha

Yeah, I mean if they don't work out there's not much of a loss there haha. Then I'd be back on the search for some Berks

 

This weather we have experienced has deterred me from a lot of car work. Trust me, I'm feeling your pain.

I doubt that anyone is gonna publicly list a place that will do test pipes. PMing local members with TPs would probably yeild a better result.

dont know where you're located, but if you dont have a CEL (depending on the yr of your Z) i know a guy in lawrence who has passed my car 2 yrs in a row and my car is rediculously loud.

 

I'm in Wilmington. My sticker expires this month and my car is in storage. This winter has sucked..
