Jersey meets have been weaksauce lately this year. It's time to revive the meet scene and have some fun while keeping it civilized and organized!

Address: ShowPlace 14 Theater 650 Plaza Drive Secaucus, NJ 07094 (meet behind the theater and watch out for the speed bumps)

When: every thursday starting June 9
Time: 8pm till whenever

Who can come? = Z/G owners only so far
(let's try and keep this meet on the low for now so it doesn't suffer the same fate as jersey meets in the past always do)

Why this spot? = it's located near major highways, there's a lot of good places to eat, the roads are smooth around here, plus I think its a good centralized location for those in NJ and NY cause it's 5 mins from Lincoln tunnel.

Security/police issues? = no police patrol usually but there's security, if we keep noise level down and go eat at the restaurants once in a while, then i assume they won't bother us and treat us like customers rather than loiterers.

Z owners are responsible so we all know what not to do. let's make this meet successful and hopefully last till the summer/fall.

 

Hopefully it stays away from bad crowd.

I was just going to see when the jersey meets were going to start up. I guess last years menlo/woodbridge spot has been moved?

There couldn't be a worse spot for a meet - Harmon Meadow is always jammed with cars, nobody has respect for other peoples vehicles, and the speed humps are too high.

Even worse than that is Hartz Mountain Security, the cops, and especially the thieves. I have worked in this complex for 12 years, and my daily driver and at least 15 co-worker's cars have been broken into or stolen. That is why the cops and security are very strict. Your whole point about easy access is exactly why thieves love this place - they can literally escape to anywhere in just a few minutes. The cops told me just on the weekends they get 10 calls for car break ins. You will get harassed - guaranteed.

I will never park my Z there unattended, this is a horrible spot for unsanctioned meets.

 

And where do you suggest we go instead that hasn't been tried before in our area? do you still work there at harmon? did your co workers drive vehicles such as hondas that were heavily targeted by thieves? possibly the fact that there were car thefts is because people were away from their cars for long periods of time while they were at work. the most time away would maybe be to order some food to go and eat it back at our cars. i highly doubt a car thief would attempt anything with people standing by their own car. thanks for the concern and i understand if you never want to go back there but let's give this place a shot. i myself refuse to go back to a mall meet because i was harassed before by police.

Yes I still work there, and just off the top of my head here are some of the cars that were broken into:

chevy Z24 (mine, $1600 worth of damage for a blaupunkt with no faceplate, and $5 in change )
volkswagon GTI
3 BMWs (2 stolen)
infiniti m45
landrover
Kawasaki ninja (stolen)
honda prelude
cadillac CTS (attempted stolen, but they got caught by security AND GOT AWAY)

You can give it a shot if you like, but don't say I didn't warn you. It only takes 2 minutes to smash and grab - and why wouldnt thieves hang around when a bunch of nice cars try to park all by themselves in the back of a lot?

Plus like I said you will more than likely get tossed by security and/or the cops.

Ok myork, point taken. let's just hope for the best and cross our fingers that we don't encounter any setbacks since i've managed to generate a good amount of interest in this meet so far including the 370z forum.

also what do you know about the hotrod car show/cruise night that goes on there on thurs nights? has that been going on for awhile? i saw it here

I dont think it is there anymore - 3 years ago they moved it to the Walmart lot, and then last year it was at the clocktower plaza on rt 17. It was there before they built the movie theater, but it was sanctioned by Hartz Mountain and blocked off.

However if they are bringing it back, it would be kinda hard to toss people people out for hanging out, so that might be a good thing.

 

Rt 17 Lowes has hot rod night I believe on Thursdays from 6 to 9pm not positive but I've seen signs posted. And right down Rt 17 burger king was a regular hang out . Mostly domestics.

 

Harmon used to have the hot Rod meets, as I remember everything was always good to go....

Rt 17 burger king used to be a mixture of cars, went there once n wasn't impressed... I say anywhere on 17 cause its super close to me or secaucus like Stevie said...

Its far but im gonna try and make it out to a few of these meets Steve, tomorrows up in the air at this point tho but ill be there if I can.

 

Weather looks good with it being a nice 75* night I'll be there later in the night.

i just checked the weather report. it says "Thunderstorms likely. Some may be severe, especially this evening. Storms may produce large hail and strong winds. Low 71F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 80%"

meet next thursday instead same time. plus the heat is pretty rough. i kinda don't feel like being outside when it's this humid.
