NJ Inspection now allows tints, but cops are still allowed to give you a ticket for it. A $55 ticket I got one a month ago. Most of the times cops can use that as a way to give you a cheaper ticket, for example i got pulled over for my exhaust, and cop said ok instead of 150 bucks ill give you a 55 dollar tint ticket. I wouldn't have removed them.
Honestly dude thats BS, im from the same area as you got pulled over and i havent had a problem(knock on wood), i just recently got 35s on my side front windows so their not that dark but they are noticable . But you see this people in cars with factory tints all around including the windshield. I even see SUV like Range rovers and stuff with 5s all around and they dont have any problems. Its the car dude, cops love picking on it esp when theres a young guy driving.
As far as cops giving you other tickets for tints, ive been pulled over before i had tintis for speeding like 45 in a 25 and told the cop the car behind me was tailgating me and his high beams were on and i couldnt see( true but not the reason i was speeding). so he goes back to his car and comes back then gives me a 45 dollar no seatbelt ticket when i was clearly wearing my seatbelt. saved me like 300 dollars so im pretty thankful about that

DARN! I put 20% tints on all windows literally two days ago! Got pulled over in East Brunswick rt 18 too. First time ever being pulled over. Cop didnt even ask me about them, he said it and then went back and wrote me a ticket. I asked him for a simple warning but he said "but I already wrote the ticket". WTF?
Im taking it off... not worth the cool factor

I just got 20's and have yet to be pulled over. I've only been pulled over twice in my 5 years driving, which is pretty good for a 22 year old owning a Z.. However, you cannot do dumb **** to make them pull you over. We live in a clean area. A cop writing a tint ticket is a big deal. When I am in Newark, I know I have nothing to worry about because they deal with shootings etc. I know I will one day get pulled over but you just need to be compliant. When the cop comes roll down the windows and shut the car off take the keys out. The whole reason why tints are illegal is because of the safety of the cops (in which case why would they pull you over). Show the cop you have nothing to hide, don't be a dick and you should be good. Plus I wanna be a cop also so ill throw that in tere too
In from old bridge. Ill be sure to stay out of eb

Fyi it's a little late I guess but that cop that told OP that he would write him "3 more tickets" is wrong. He can't just write you tickets for every window because he feels like it lol. That would get thrown out in court in half a second and was a scare tactic. I'm young too I'm only 19 and don't have tints but I have plenty of friends who deal with the cops who do **** like that lol
