Anyone interested in checking out a GM test drive event? You get to drive a bunch of competitors cars/Trucks (BMW, Lexus, Audi etc) and compare them to all the GM cars (Chevy, Cadilac, Saab etc). You also get to drive an H2 hummer on an offroad course AND a Z06 Vette on a small AutoX course. Driving the Z06 last year really blew my mind . Tons of fun. Last year they also provided free eats. Hopefully it will be as good this time around. They are supposed to have the GTO there as well. The info can be found at:

I am signed up for Saturday June 19 @ 1pm. It takes place at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA. If enough people show up we can meet up in the parking lot an hour early or whatever. Hope to see some Z's out there!

I'm going. Originally signed up for Sat at noon but changed to Friday now. I'll see if my bud wants to go on Sat instead.

I just registered for 1:15 on Saturday.

I also posted something over at NEZC.org about this. As I mentioned over there, we could meet around 11-11:30 AM at the Red Wing restaurant (which is about 1/2 mile on the right side of Route 1 coming from Norwood before the stadium). Red Wing gets TWO BIG HANDS UP from me on their fried clams! Plus they have a lot of other food there that is good and cheap! Otherwise we can just meet at Gillette around 12:30 PM.

I just checked and Red Wing opens at 11:30 AM. Thye have a decent sized parking lot.

 

11:30 it is then. I also mentioned this event over on www.boston-motorsports.com so there may be a few people showing for the event as well at the stadium.

Now if I could only spell Boston right (fat fingered the topic title).

Yeah, if you have ever driven to Foxboro/Gillette Stadium and you were coming down Route 1 from the north (ie not from 495) it is on the right side about a mile before the stadium (which is on the left side). It really sits all by itself and they have a big sign out in front that says "Fried Clams". It looks like a typical diner and even has a train attached to it I believe. I plan on getting there around 11:00 - 11:15.

 

My weekend trip to Philly that I had planned that day was postponed, so it looks like I'm in too! Just snagged a 12:45 PM slot. Cheers..

 

I'm in. Have to work Saturday night so I might not be able to stick around too long.

Roger your slipping... I figured you would have posted spy photos of this place from some sattellite by now

Is Red Wing Diner gonna mind us congregating in their lot? I guess it doesn't matter as long as we eat.

Those cars at the event are gonna be toast when we're done with them. I guess we can try to grab a bite quickly then head over to the stadium all put our hoods up, blast our stereos and make a big scene there . BTW The cruise for this event will be along lovely scenic Rt. 1, approx 1 mile to Gillette stadium Sorry no big Z's in the middle of the road this time hehehe

As far as Red Wing, we are going to eat there so they can't say anything (actually probably like the attention!). They have "party" type table setup that seats about 8-10 people at each table, so it will work out well.

I actually tried last night! My wife and I went to a party in Canton and as we were leaving, I asked if we could make a "quick" 20 minute detour to the Red Wing. She looks at me and says "It's 1 AM in the morning, they're not open!". I then explain that I just needed to take a picture of the restaurant for a car meet. She looks at me and just starts shaking her head and mutters something about "that" car. Needless to say I didn't get to take a picture.

 

I was just able to sign up for June 19th at 12:45----so I will be there too. This time I will wash and wax the roadster. The Red Wing should be a great place to get really tanked up before the GM test drive. It would be a perfect chance to test the air bags. (for those with no sense of humor, just kidding)!
