Default AutoX Practice - 5/7/05

This is usually the time of year where if I don't do an autoX event once ever 2 weeks or so I start to do things on the street that the local law enforcement just isn't cool with. Anyway's it's a good thing that BEAC gives me the opporunity to get my fix.

We're gonna have another autoX practice day on Saturday 5/7/05 in Evt. As usual BACutler and I will be looking to bring the local Z guys along who are interested in running. So thre are 4 openings but the guys that have first dibs are:

Rahtok
DrVolkl (unless he's a BEAC member now, which means we can invite even more folks)
BKMC
Cryptic

MadMax76 - drop in and say hi, if you're up to it.

Lemme know who's up for it and we'll get organized like last time (drop me an e-mail or reply to this post). Hopefully we'll have a smaller turnout at this one, that way we can get more runs in and less time waiting in grid. FYI: We'll try to stay away from the Miata-sized courses.

Working on it. The president of the club is never at his desk. She can't get on the net thing right now....

If someone else wants to fax me the forms, please do so. 425-641-0880

Then I can get two more myself, thus freeing up my spot as well, for a total of 3 more peeps!

If everything goes as planned I will be there again. One of my buddies has a friend who works at Boieng so he will come too. Noel, I think you've met him during afternoon practice - Brian on the black BMW. Keep us update if something changes.

Hmm... Black Bimmer.... there's been a couple out at practices already this year and more Brains than you can shake a stick at (especially driving Z's). Tell you buddy to catch me at the next practice. If your buddy is a BEAC member then he can invite you to join us for practice. Boeing employees can join us at any practice (usual waiver signing applies), but if you want to have guests, you have to be a BEAC member.

Geez, you guys always seem to have events when I'm already busy!

How are you ever going to see the UY Z at this rate?

(BTW, I'm planning to be at Packwood in a couple of weeks)

Packwood is still a little too far for my liking. Maybe I'll make it out there once this year for an event just to see what everyone's been talking about.

I'm up for it. Are you going to use the "Red" course.... it's marked isn't it? If not, that last WW event course was rather spiffy.

PDX Racer, I'll be out there. You know, every time I run at Packwood... I come back to Everett events... and I drive at least .6 faster.

Are you kidding?????

Packwood is an autocrosser's fantasy! Approximately 35 acres of nothing but asphalt (and a few drains). No light standards, covered paddock area, and a city that wants us there!

See the picture below? The large gray area in the center is the site, it's almost bigger than the whole town!

Okay, so far here's who we have:

DrVolkl (Although he may be a BEAC member in a few days which means we could have even more spots avalible for Z folks.)
BKMC

2 down 2 to go, w/ the potential for another 2 if DrVolkl becomes a BEAC member.

Yup, the Red Course is marked. I think I might like that too. We can make this event one geared more for fun rather than one for getting ourselves prepped for competition. I'll check w/ Enrique and pass the idea by him. The only problem I can see in running the Red Course is that if we get a turnout like last time we may not get as many runs in since it's about 10 second longer than the one at the last practice, but since it's marked we can get setup a whole lot faster which should be able to compensate.

DriveSolo,

Don't you think that the turn last time had a lot to do with having the WW event the next day? Hopefully, we have more Zs, less everything else. As far as Packwood, I agree with PDX Racer; Packwood is awesome. Covered paddock with our weather is so sweet... and remembering back on the old Kent facility, Packwood is even better. My offer still stands for Saturday nights.

The SCCA Seattle National Tour will be in Packwood, right? I'll make my way out there for that event. The 2 hr drive won't kill me. I'm just strapped for time this year, else I'd be running in both SCCA and WWSCC. WWSCC suits me better since the events require far less commuting time for me.

Woah, that's quick. I go on vacation for a weekend and it looks like I'll sandwich it in between two beac sessions!

I'm in.

It looks like I'll be getting a trailer too -- Mark and I chatted last week.

So far:

BKMC
Rahtok

DrVolkl: are you a BEAC member yet? Do we need to add you to the Guest list?

Current forecast:
- about the same amount of folks as last time.
- We'll be running the Red course. That's the one we ran the 1st time we did this so if you remember your times from then, you can compare them to your times on this one.
- Weather looks favorable so far, but you never know. Hopefully it will scare off some people but stay dry so we can get in plenty of runs.

E-mails will be sent out soon.

I think I'd like to give it a go again. Last time was very fun though I couldn't stay the entire time.

That was too much fun!

Here's and intersting fact for you; originally when we decided to mark it, it was assumed to be a 50 second course (generalization for competition). I guess that was an estimate that didn't include Z's.

Top 3 times of the day were made by 350z's from a field of 38 drivers. Rahtok; we're gonna have to get you on R-coumpound and see how you do. Even though it may make me and BA Cutler lose sleep at nights after we find out.

What happened to Cryptic?

His son got a little tired...had to go home.

After having a top 4 finish for the first morning group, my ego was soon crushed as the 2nd morning group of Z's destroyed my time. My closest attempt was still over a second off of Brian's fastest in the afternoon. (pick any Brian at this point).

I have switched my focus of car mod's to springs and sways. Thanks alot you bastards.
(New front tires too!)

I can only compare myself to the other Z's...but it's nice to know my car is kickin butt out there in general. The 350Z is really at home on the course.

So what's next?
