Unhappy engine damage

my engine started detonating and i took it into the dealership.
after checking the engine, they told me try using a different kind of gas, so i used a different company, but anyhow, they said that if the same situation happens again, just bring it by and they will look at it for free.
well, i took it home and while driving in seattle, this started happening again, misfire, and detonation,.. so i panicked and drove the car home...
first day i get a chance i take the car in and after checking the problem, they tell me i have airleak, my second cylinder is messed up and so forth...

WHAT SHOULD I DO???

HELP... HOW MUCH DO U THINK IT WILL COST OR IF ITS THEIR FAULT FOR NOT CHECKING THE CAR BEFORE THIS STARTED HAPPENING..

ANY HELP WOULD BE NICE.. THANKS GUYZ

well if you have no mods that would cause the problem (like f/i) they should be able to fix it under warranty. how much warranty do you have left to cover?

My Warranty Ran Out Like 8 Months Ago...
Im Not Quite Sure How The Dealership Will Approach This Situation, But Im A Bit Worried...
Do You Think That I Can Argue The Fact, That The Service Department Told Me It Was Ok To Drive After They Had Checked The Engine Probelm?..
Also, Is Detonation And Misfiring A Serious Problem?

detonation= blown motor, how long ago did they check it? if it was recently you should have a leg to stand on. If its been several months? well you might be screwed

If you can somehow prove that the damage to the engine occured after you brought the vehicle to them the first time, you have a good chance of making them pay for it...but it'll be failry hard to prove that. Your best bet would try to split costs with them by saying that when you first brought them the car, the damage was most lilkey miminal (less money to fix), but after they advised you that it was okay to drive, more damaged occured...they have part blame for the total damage to the engine.

Detonation/misfiring can cause big problems...what did the dealership say about your 2nd cylinder - how's it 'messed up'?

My last job I worked for a failure analysis engineering firm and wokred for a lot of insurance companies with vehcile failures...let me know how I can help. (I'm still young, but have a pretty good sense of the buisness)

I Have Aftermarket Parts On My Car Like Cai, Skunk2 Plenum Spacer, And They Told Me I Was Losing Engine Pressure.
Im Not Exactly Sure What He Said About 2nd Cylinder, But It Sounded Bad.
What I Was Wondering Was , I Took It In For Service Because Of What Was Happening And They Charged Me For The Analysis And Told Me That My Car Was Misfiring In All Cylinders And Told Me To Try Changing The Fuel To A Differnet Company And If The Problem Continues Bring It Back.
Well,2 Days Later When It Happened Again,i Took It Down To The Dealership And They Told Me There Are Some Serious Problems; So Do U Guys Think I Can Argue The Case? Saying Because Of What They Said It Caused More Problems?

how do you know if its misfire and detonation. Are you hearing noises? Have you tried swapping spark plugs? Which dealership are you taking it to? I would HIGHLY recommend advantage nissan in bremerton auto mall. They are very honest, and will do the job right. Bruce Titus in tacoma has horrible techs, and even more horrible service. Take it from me, ive had experience there.

I think you're in a fairly good position to at least get the dealership to pay part of the costs...just wait and get all the details from their diagnosis.

What kind of insurance do you have? Many times an insurance company can help with putting pressure on the dealership b/c they have many more resources than an individual.

You should definitely CALL make sure they are working on it. This is exactly why i steer away from bruce titus. I didnt get my damn navigation fixed for a YEAR because of this silly crap. They diagnosed the problem, and said they ordered a part. A month rolls by and still no call. I call them, and they say that its still on the way. Another month rolls by and still no part. Then they feed me this bullcrap about how its a special part and they cant get a hold of it. I believe the story and decide to wait longer. Long story short, after driving to the dealership a couple more times asking them about the part, I find out from the service manager that the part was never ordered. Horrible service, and worst of all, i didnt get to enjoy my navi for a whole year.

Honestly in my opinion, you should make the extra effort and take it to a different dealership. Like I said before, i would recommend advantage nissan in bremerton. There is one in fife as well. Either way, it couldnt be worse than bruce titus. If you insist on bruce titus (since they told you that the car was driveable) go to the dealership in person, dont wait around for their call. Put pressure on the service advisors to get this thing in motion. Complain to them that you have been waiting for a call. Talk to the manager if you have to. I promise you that this will speed up the process and improve their service, although its sad that this is the way you have to get things done!
