It is in a parking lot at PIR, it's like an autox with drifting allowed. The spots fill up quick so hurry up.

Gymkhana is a percision timed driving event, similar to autocross (relatively low speeds), except it has unique and very complex elemets which may include drifitng, 360+ degree zero radius turns, running the car in reverse and other relatively somewhat wacky (low risk) stunts. I've heard it's tons of fun and non-stop laughs. It's something i've always wanted to try, but it's about as taxing on tires as drifting.

It's not timed or even a compition. It's more of a pratice day for people to learn and try new techniques.... legally.

I might attend one of the upcoming events...I've got some old rubber on my OE wheels that I should use before changing them to a track set-up. How many runs do you normally get?

If any of you can make one of these events - GO!!!!
It's tons of fun! Well, the first session kinda sucked for me...it was a little hard getting used to it, but by the 2nd group I was able to have a lot more fun (*I can't really say I was good at drifting...but I was able to get the rear end loose and somewhat control it around the corners - I would still spin out about once a session, but my smile was from ear-to-ear.)
The ppl there were really cool - it's a much more relaed event than compared to track and AutoX events. And you don't have to work the course like AutoX...which leaves you time to watch the good drifters burn up their tires and time to change your own.
Tires:
I had brought my set of OE rims w/ OE tires...the tires were worn down to the first 'wear mark'; too worn to sell, but still some tread left. I burned through all 4 by the end of the day. The OE tires started to 'chunk' when they got hot enough, then the cords would start to show and come out. Here's a pic of them after the day:![](http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b190/peterumino/drifting/DSC02655.jpg)
![](http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b190/peterumino/drifting/DSC02656.jpg)
skid pad:
They set of a small area w/ 4 cones (spaced about the same size as a car) and you can go at any time to just do circles around it...learning how to controll your drift. It kinda felt like Toykyo Drift were the guy does a few circles aroudn the girl's car and then gets her #...after I was able to drift around the cones, I was sad that there wasn't a # to get
Track:
It was set up in the parking lot. there was only 1 light pole, and they used it was part of the course (you have to drift a circle around it). It's kinda like autoX, but about 20% of the cones...it's fairly open and allows you to room for error (I needed it). There are track workes on the outside of the course, to help w/ incidents. Overall, it was a safe event; there was one portion that got close to a access road w/ PIR traffic...but I didn't see any close calls.
here's a few more of the shots I took. I'll post vids later in the week...my PC isn't allowing my video editer to work right now

lots of ppl asked about the headlights...my Z stood out a little b/c it was one of the few cars that were complete (no missing bumpers, complete inteiriors...); but after the end of the day, I could see why you'd want a beater to learn how to drift.
